Useless to ask because few mod leaders will ever give a straightforward answer on that (to be fair, they can't and when they actually do they usually miss the release date big time).
In my experience, most mods that ever get released fall into one of two categories:
1. Mod is completed relatively quickly, but really doesn't offer much of an experience or is riddled with bugs and imperfections because the leader/team adopts a "good enough" policy (or it's an ongoing and lengthy open beta process)
2. Mod takes FOREVER and everybody is banging their heads against the wall waiting for it, but once it finally arrives it was worth the wait because of all the attention to detail, the uniqueness, and the overall gaming experience. Since the PI development seems to have a painstaking, perfectionist approach I'd guess that this one falls into that category.

Yeah why is this mod taking so long? It looks like EBII will be released before this mod, not to mention RSII. Watch out SigniferOne, if you don't hurry up you're going to get pipped to the post.
It's taking so long because Siggy is doing the vast majority of the work by himself, not to mention that he keeps adding new and awesome features to the mod all the time. Also, I think he is more concerned about the finished product than what other people are doing. I know I am.
I'm not sure why you were talking that post as gospel? I persoally thought it was outlandish.
EBII progress is bopping up along really well. Just look at all the previews they are cranking out. I think they will have their first demo release (Gaza) in a few months. It depends if they care about their being medieval buildings or not in the sieges.
So work continues on animations. So far all spear units engage in vigorous spear/shield strike and block combat. The only time a soldier keels over is when he's about to die; all other times he tries to block the attacks of his enemy, to the left, to the right, and to the front. It's a pretty interesting experience, quite new from the standard Vanilla fare. Now, the same system is being almost finished with sword units.
That should make watching the combat more interesting!!!
Will that be the last BIG change before the release?
Yes. Once the animations are all ironed out, I see little in the way of a beta release.
