Default German IGN wrote this about S2TW ....

The German IGN wrote this here:

    http://www.spieletipps.de/n_21096/

    Translation:

Sega has already announced a few days ago Shogun 2 - Total. Now the guys from IGN had the first opportunity to allude Shogun 2 and some details to reveal. So it goes back to Japan in the 16th Century. With the Onin War, Japan is devastated and politically not run everything, as it should be. Now you come into play and can choose from nine different warlords to reunite Japan. Every warlord has different starting conditions and own advantages and disadvantages. Compared to its predecessor, the developers have somewhat scaled back the number of units, however, the current units have clearer differences than in previous Total War games.

All units can be upgraded in the course of the game - you can even equip generals with objects. Completely new are the heroes who can send any warlord in the war. These heroes come from Japanese mythology and should therefore not be all that some unknown. If a hero in the enemy ranks cleans up, it is recommended that all units separately squads or even one's own hero on him to rush. The battle on water will be again here.

When Shogun 2 appears, is still unknown.

Mythology is history. I think what they mean is that they're bringing to the stage some of the famous players as individuals units that may be utilized by the player and the AI in ways similar to why these figures became famous: IE in War.

I think it means that the hero's are so well known that they have gained almost a mythical status, kensei for example.

It would be like bringing Jupiter into RTW2.... Mythology is not real history, but the beliefs within history. They still have no place in a facts based military stratergy game!

Come on, dont tell me you dont want the hydra in rome total war II battling it out with the chimera? Before the players charecter flies in on his pegasis (which was equiped before the battle along with theseus string (+10% chance of getting out a sticky situation), heracles club (+50% strength) and achillies greives (+15% armour) and slays them both?

Right! Think about the "300" spartans. They and their battle and also King Leonidas are true so long, but the movie is made on pure mythology things in 1:1 as wrtten in the novel and this again is 1:1 as it is written in greek sources. Xerxes the Great must be a 2.50m huge guy, beacuse great = tall and so on ....
What this will mean now for the game Shogun 2, hell knows ....

Idon't want to see a romanticised Japan. I want the real nitty gritty. So I hope the heroes can't bring down legions of men by themselves.

Should be fairly easy to mod hero-units out of the game. I mean every total war game since Rome has NEEDED to be fixed by the fans...

Not really. Not RTW. Although some mods are fun like RS.

With the current file system, should CA continue its use, getting rid of them would be extremely easy, literally one edit if there aren't any on the campaign map to begin with.
