Have you played Shogun Total War

So many people with so many opinions. As some newer people (who most likely started with RTW) seem to have mixed opinions on this game I'm just wondering how many people posting in here actually played Shogun Total War, and if you are planning on doing so at some point before Shogun 2 is released.

I reccomend you do as it will help you understand what people mean when they say it's the most challenging, immersive and atmospheric Total War game ever made.

One more thing, try to make a post and let everyone see your opinions as to why you are going to play the game or not, instead of just voting.

Yes, it was my first Total War game, and I loved it. I can't say it has aged well though.

Yes, loved it, still do. I have XP so I play it sometimes, I did an AAR on it but I didn't finish it...

Played it briefly as a kid, didn't have an opinion of it at the time as it was a bit over my head. It's too old for me to want to play now. Definitely will be playing Shogun 2 though as I love the time period.

It was fun, I tried it after MTW, I like the simplicity and solid fun it had to offer!

It was one of the first strategy games I played, I had a lot of fun with the original STW.

No i haven't but I would - but my system probeably can't take it since MTW didn't work right either (controlls completaly mixed up). Started with RTW and am looking forward to S2:TW. Although I should try Empire or Napoleon first...

Yup, I bought it in summer of 2001. That game didn't have much unit variety (eleven unit types in the original without the Mongol expansion) but it had tons of style. The throne room was an especially nice touch, with that old guy who would recite Confucian proverbs every time you clicked on him. I'm very excited about this. All I can say is "YATTA!"

I did and I absolutely loved it. Then after that I wasn't AS into the first Medieval, but when Rome came out, it was (and still is honestly) my favorite strategy game of all time. As much as I want a Rome 2, I have to admit that when I read about Shogun 2, I was instantly pumped up. And I have to believe that Rome 2 will be not long after.

And when they bring Rome back, I hope they use the same music for the credits (or at least an updated version of it). I can still remember it sending chills down my spine when I first heard it!
