Default FAILED[Citizen] Wildrek (Patron : abbews)

    Client : Wildrek

    Wildrek Dear CdeC members,

I have been a member of twcenter.net for a year or so. I joined because i was excited about M2TW,and i wanted to try some mods (ok , lets be honest, i only wanted to try Third Age TW ).
So i became a member just to be able to post problems, praise King Kong, give feedback, stuff like that...
    Then came Photoshop!
I started using it probably a year (or less) ago, and i loved it at first sight! I got better and better and started making sigs.
My 'active era' began when i started posting my work at the "Rate the sig above you' thread. My dear friend abbews told me to start my own workshop.
Eventually i did. Here is the link of my Workshop.(notice that the first post isnt updated recently , but my newer stuff are posted at the last pages of the thread)

And here are some sigs i made for other users:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I've made sigs for other people too , but unfortunately my hard drive was erased and i lost them

My contributions are some tutorials i made about making sigs with Photoshop
    Rocking Sig Tutorial
    Sick Tutorial
    Lightning Effect Tutorial

Btw, the rocking tutorial has a place at the scriptorium!
    Here is the link!

    And a small font pack
    Font Pack

Also , i made the sigs for a Third Age submod, ' Forgotten Realms of Middle Earth' ( look at the end of the first post ):
    Click me!

Some sigs i made for some random mods:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    And 2 wallpapers for DotS:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    This should be it.
Oh, and i have been interviewed for the next (probably) Silver Shield!
Not much of a contribution, but i thought of letting you know

I hope my contributions deserve a title like that.

    Thank you for your time!

Hello fellow CdeC members, today I wish to propose my friend Wildrek for citizenship. Wildrek is very active
in the Graphics Workshop, where he create sigs and other forms of art. Wildrek does also create sigs for other users and for mods.
I know making sigs doesn't usually count highly against citizenship, but Wildrek's sigs are crème á la crème.
His sigs are very well made, and I've dropped my jaw more times than I can remember because of the sheer awesomeness of his sigs.
And still I'm quite experienced with 2D-art. It's obvious Wildrek puts a lot of time into his art, and one of his sigs weigh more than 5 of mine. He has been a great inspiration source for me and many others.

As most of us arts geeks have been trying to beat Wildrek, to your satisfaction, he has released tutorials on how he makes sigs.
Although his English might not be great, the tutorials are clear and teaches valuable tricks and methods.

I trust Wildrek that he has listed all of his contributions above, and I hope you'll find him worthy.

    Regards
    Abbews

Not sure if the SS would want folks to know about that. :S I don't trust folks who cannot keep their silence on something that should be private until the editor chooses to reveal it.

He is on the good way in becoming a citizen but i will vote no.

His tutorials are a great contribution to the site but they are with to few at this moment. Having a workshop and creating sigs isn't enough to become a citizen. If people would pass on this every member who writes an AAR should pass as well. His wallpapers look good but still not enough to convince me.

If this member would take part of a mod and doing some 2D arts and create more tutorials he will be passing in no time but for now his contributions are to few. There for i will stay with my no verdict.

Edit : He also has a note 29/05/2010 i am not sure if this would bring his application in risk.

^ Technically speaking so long as it is not an infraction with points, he's fine. However, saying that he has a note on his record may sway some folks who look at a potential citizen's behavior and require that it be exemplary.

Great talent at computer generated art should be highly praised. I don't want to say that "just because" he made siggies he's not good enough to be a citizen. In fact, I am always envious of such talents because I've never been able to excel much beyond the basics in PS. Tutorials do help the entire community, so they are nothing to be scoffed at all. But I agree with Hesus, he just needs a bit more seasoning. I want to see this guy flourish on a mod team or become the next master of the tutorials.

This is tough. I really like Wildrek, he is friendly and has a great attitude towards helping others. He is also an amazing artist. I don't really think that brings him to Citizen level though. If he begins using his great artistic talent to contribute more, we'll see him entering the Curia in no time.

ill be a rebel and vote yes for the following reasons

weve let less into the curia
weve let ppl with like exactly the same amount of work as him into the curia
    he is a nice guy

    thus i will vote yes

Legio, if that is the case, shouldn't we be working on raising the standards then?

Not letting them continue to sink lower?

Justi, his graphics work is indeed extremely impressive, and I am in awe of him. But does being a good artist immediately make you a good contributor? I think he needs to begin to use his amazing skill to contribute more to TWC.

I'm going to give some input now.

Wildrek's sigs in the GW is a inspirational source for the rest of the artgeeks. It keeps us motivated, and it raises the standard of the GW to a whole other level.
And Wildrek has done a fair share of very advanced sigs to mods.

I totally agree that his artwork is amazing, but is it enough to warrant citizenship?

Well, if I, Belisarius, the Black Prince, and you all agree on something, I really don't think there can be any further discussion.

So does your, subuatai, Giovi,... and all the other peoples submissions for the GW.

I am starting to get the feeling we are voting to easily in favour of people we like instead of really looking at what they have contributed to TWC.

I am not saying he isn't contributing but is it enough? It's not enough at this stage but if he keeps contributing with his tutorials i am sure he will pass within a few months.

I think the important question here is... is he for hire?

Not that my vote would be influenced by his helping with 2D art on our mod or anything.............

On a serious note, his art is certainly of a high quality. One thing of note is all three of his tutorials have occurred in the space of the last month and a half or so. If he keeps going at that rate his portfolio will be quite a bit broader looking down the road. I'm very much on the fence with this user, but I can say for sure that more time expanding and diversifying at the current rate will leave no question a couple months from now.
