IR MOD'S RESEARCH TEAM for making unit list and providng myself with good info.
WARSPITE for his face textures I used.
LATE ROMANS for creating armour, weapons, clothes and shields desighn of this mod's units.

Post if you find any bugs. They will be solved in V 3.0

    Unit list -

    WESTERN ROMAN EMPIRE

While playing as western romans, you can choose between roman and barbarian unit branches. Western Roman emperors allowed barbarian tribes to settle on roman lands on conditions of sending their warriors to fight for Rome. Barbarian armyes fighting under roman command are called foederati. With time, they took the major number in roman army. Roman unit branch is consisted of usual late roman troops, providing an expensive and disciplined army. The Foederati branch provides typical barbarian units forming a cheap mass of good individual soldiers. You can choose what branch do you need more to acheave victory.

    INFANTRY

    ROMAN BRANCH

    - Legio Palatinae
    - Auxillia Palatinae Gravis ( Lat. Heavy Auxillia Palatinae )
    - Auxillia Palatinae ( usual light vesion )
    - Prima cohortis legionarii ( first cohort )
    - Legionarii
    - Plumbatarii
    - Lanciarii ( spearman )
    - Limitainei

    BARBARIAN BRANCH

    - Foederati warband
    - Foederati swordsman
    - Foederati spearman
    - Foederati foot nobles ( "first cohort" of barbarian branch, better than any legionarii )

    CAVALRY

    ROMAN BRANCH

    - Scholae Palatinae ( Equites Scutarii )
    - Clibanarii ( Grouped in smaller units that ERE ones, but a bit better armoured. )
    - Cataphractarii ( semi-sarmatian cavalry lancers )
    - Equites Promoti ( usual medium cavalry )
    - Equites Sagitarii ( light version with no armour )

    BARBARIAN BRANCH

    - Foederati cavalry
    - Foederati nobles
    - Warlord's comitatus ( cataphracts )

    LIGHT TROOPS

    ROMAN BRANCH

    - Sagitarii
    - Balistarii ( crossbowman )

    BARBARIAN BRANCH

    - Foederati bows

    EASTERN ROMAN EMPIRE

Eastern Empire is in constant war with Sassanids and nomadic tribes. Those enemyes have brilliant cavalry and deadly armoured mounted warriors. That's why, as Eastern Emperor, you must pay more attention to cavalry, both light and heavy, to beat those opponents. Infantry play minor role in ERE army, but it doesn't mean that it is worse than WRE's legions. Wealth of Imperia Orientialis allowed to give their legions better equipment and support the best cavalry of the roman world.

    INFANTRY

    - Legio Palatinae
    - Auxillia Palatinae Gravis ( Lat. Heavy Auxillia Palatinae )
    - Auxillia Palatinae ( usual light vesion )
    - Prima cohortis legionarii ( first cohort )
    - Legionarii
    - Plumbatarii
    - Lanciarii ( spearman )
    - Limitainei
    - Foederati warband

    CAVALRY

    - Scholae Clibanarii Palatinae ( Elite of Elite )
    - Scholae Palatinae ( equites scutarii )
    - Cataphractarii ( semi-sarmatian cavalry lancers )
    - Clibanarii
    - Equites Sagitarii Gravis ( heavy horse archers )
    - Equites Promoti ( usual medium cavalry )
    - Equites Sagitarii ( light version with no armour )

    LIGHT TROOPS

    - Sagitarii
    - Sagitarii Gravis ( heavy archers )
    - Balistarii ( crossbowman )

    ROMANO - BRITONS

Romano -britons are a mix of barbarian and roman cultures. Both roman and barbarian warriors serve romano-british generals. Pictish tribes form the north and saxons from the sea are threating britania, so, as a Romano-British King, you must use all the resources you have to stop the invasion.

    INFANTRY

    - Legionarii ( a bit better than WRE and ERE legionarii as they are the best R-B infantry )
    - Pedites Romanii ( Roman Infantry )
    - Foederati Heavy Swordsman
    - Milites Sationarius ( Garrison Troops )
    - Foederati Warband

    CAVALRY

    - Comitatus ( cataphractarii, general's bodyguards )
    - Equites Stablesiana ( Heavy sword-armed cavalry, see the render bellow. )
    - Equites Scutarii ( same equipment as Scholae Palatinae, but no elite status = poorer morale and armour )
    - Foederati cavalry

    LIGHT TROOPS

    - Sagitarii
    - Balistarii ( crossbowman )
    - Fleet Sailors ( javelinman )

Your file was just uploaded so it'll take up to 48 hours for the staff to check it out and approve it. BTW, I implemented the v2.0 fixes to the file I uploaded.

OMG congratulations on your awesome work Atilla!! Best looking units i've ever seen!!
    Can't wait for sassanids :original:
Also i noticed that the roman generals don't have a new skins, is that intentional? Also I would really like to get rid of units like peasants and priests, someone could please explain me how to do it, what to modify?
    Thanks in advance

Everything now's working. No more problems at all, except for i found that all Foederati units like Nobles or RB's Comitatus have a strange colour on shields. It could be modified ATILLA ? Dunno about historical colors, but this one seems a little unnatural to me.
BTW the final work is great! Cards are beautiful, units show all your skills as modder and as ERE leader i can't wait to see sassanids skinned & modelled at this level.

Hmmm, does the release of v2.0 implement these units in the campaign as buildable units, or do you have to manually mod (or is someone else doing that) them into the text files?

Also, and I'm sure I already know this is a big negative, but will these units change my existing campaign or would I need to start a new one (or just slowly replace the existing armies)?

I'd have a closer look at it myself, but I'm at work. Love the looks of it though..I'm a good ways into my WRE vanilla campaign and I might just drop it and install this.

Almost all mods are released in .rar format, its basically the same exact thing as a zip anyway.

Attila, just wanted to say thanks for the most amazing mod ever! I'm planning on working on a Saxon mod at some point and if it's ok with you I will release my mod with yours added to it (all recognition to you of course!). I love your mod so much it's going to be a required mod for anything I release in the future for compatibility

Quick question for you: I'm mostly a skinner/scripter working with photoshop/text files and such and don't know much regarding modeling. I noticed that you released a few models of your own with your mod and was wondering if you created those from scratch, or imported existing models? Just curious what tools and methodology you use if you're willing to share

To edit models use 3dsmax with .cas plug-in you can download on TWC. Modeling basics are rather simple to learn, so you can read toutorials from totalwar.org forum ( don't know if they are still there ) or search for some in net. Original models already provide most of what you need to create a relistic model and combining them gives more, so I created from scratch just details - belts, scabbards, ect. But I allso used PROMETHEUS's brilliant comitatenses helmet.

Might want to read the instructions first. It clearly states to install on a fresh copy of BI.

Attilla, great mod, installed it last night, played for a few hours and no CTD. The units are simply amazing. Very nice work, keep it up!!! Your work is much appreciated. Thanks!

Brilliant work. Such a shame that CA's original skins are so bad, but it's nothing to fret over with efforts like these to correct that.
