Thread: wrong voices from units

  1. #1

    Default wrong voices from units

    does anybody know about the bug from the units when you select them.
    because when I select just a cavalry they say ''General staff sir''.
    or when I select a britisch light foot they say ''infantry elite''.

    only the real general says the voice right with ''General staff sir''.
    how can this problem been solved or is there any solution.
    its quit annoying.
    thanks.

    If I recall correctly it will occur when you've added additional units to the game in the form of a mod. I do not believe there is a fix for it.

    mixed voices occurs when the Units table is renamed or units within it are added or changed in order,

    a factor when it comes to integrating the last patch as several units have been changed in the order of the units table.

    So is there still no fix for this error? I've added a unit to the Prussians via a mod, and all the sounds add up right except for the unit I added.

    I edited this out some time ago for my personal use. I simply changed the sound (although finding the sound involved sifting through hundreds of sound files) It is in Movie format so just place in your data directory. I had a sense of humour about it but could change it to be a bit more serious. Nothing too drastic, mind.

    Cheers

    Hedge? Did you finally found something?

    In Sounds.pack, there is a Sounds-packed folder, with a rules.bob, Sound_events, and Sound_database, but PFM gives no details.

    I tried to extract and open Sound_events, it seems it contains some entries with all the sound files.

    If something is defined in a patch from CA, is there a way to be sure that if I change it in my mod, it will overwrite the patch?

    In patch5, there is a "sound_bank_unit_voice_events.xml"

    It contains things such as

    <sound_bank_event sound_event_name ="unit_voices_selected_Cuirassiers">
    <event>unit_voices_selected</event>
    <unit_categories>cavalry</unit_categories>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_Austrian_Cuirassiers</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_French_Cuirassiers</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_French_Cuirassiers_Murat</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_Cuirassiers</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_French_Cuirassiers_Ney</unit>
    <unit_class>cavalry_heavy</unit_class>
    </sound_bank_event>

    I tried to edit it this way (adding my own units), but it doesn't seem to have an effect

    <sound_bank_event sound_event_name ="unit_voices_selected_Cuirassiers">
    <event>unit_voices_selected</event>
    <unit_categories>cavalry</unit_categories>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_Austrian_Cuirassiers</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_French_Cuirassiers</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_French_Cuirassiers_Murat</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_Cuirassiers</unit>
    <unit>Cav_Heavy_French_Cuirassiers_Ney</unit>
    <unit>SD_Cav_Heavy_Cuirassiers_French</unit>
    <unit_class>cavalry_heavy</unit_class>
    </sound_bank_event>

    Any idea how this xml file is working, if it is working?

    Would love for this to finally get a fix. On the campaign map my naval officers have the voice of missionaries from Empire, my Fencibles are revolutionary guard and all sorts of nonsense.

    This is fixed in Masters of Europe. In battle, every unit has the proper voice, including troops recruited locally speak in their native language (ex: King's German Legion in the British army speak German, Polish troops recruited by France in Poland would speak Polish).

    Hi

    there is a way to correct the bug but you cant play in multi because it is the last patch (6) which bugs all the voices, without the patch, the game works well.

    The only problem is that with big mods like darth mod, the game bugs again because it is a version after this patch.

    I think someone can see what is in patch 6 (not me i dont know how to do it) and what is doing all this wrong voices.

    Already explained. Any change in the unit table and the sounds are messed up unless you recompile them.

    In every previous patch, CA included recompiled sounds. They forgot to do it for patch 6.

    Beside, even if CA corrects it, it will still not work with mods, you need to recompile with Symphony.

    It's very likely that you have a mod somewhere, since they screw the voices...
    But even if you don't have one, CA did a poor job with some of the translation, and also some voices are poorly assigned (the vocie they use is not always adapted to the event

    so there is no fix? even if we get close to the sound editing?
