    I have been wondering for a while, who are the Tau based on in reality, if anyone?

    Judging by the way they look, dress and speak and their language, they look like they're based off Samurai/Traditional Chinese peoples. They also appear to be inspired by Anime-style Mech's judging by the Battlesuits and advanced technology.

    They are also communists so, Chinese Samurai Communist Mechs.
