Has any tested whether moving the border by changing the rigid_spine changes which factions controls which areas? For example if you move the border between England and Scotland lower does this give Scotland more of England or do these areas above the Scottish border still belong to England?

No, it only controls how the player sees the borders, not the actual borders.

Has anyone got any idea of the implications of this spline-ology for battle map splines, such as stone walls?
For example, in ETW's battleterrain.pack/walls directory there's a textures subdirectory which seems to contain all the dds textures for north, east, south, or west sides of a walled area. And then there's a single file called wall01_xs.rigid_spline.
I have a finished custom map ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=370390 ) that I'm just dying to put stone walls on. But this is a whole 'nother level of modding, it seems. I'm willing to tackle it if I can find enough good tips and tools and collective wisdom to guide me. PMs welcome.

At least now we know that after (and if) regions are modified, another file has to be edited to make the changes visible.

NTW map has some mistakes. Duchy of Warsaw has borders with Russia (Lithuania region). Can you make it?

I'm using Windows 10 and the latest version of Python but I keep getting this error.

    Code:
    Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "convert_splines.py", line 177, in <module>
        convertTextToSpline(textFilename, splineFilename)
File "convert_splines.py", line 103, in convertTextToSpline
        splineFile.writeInt(int1)
AttributeError: 'file' object has no attribute 'writeInt'
Any ideas how to fix it?

UPDATE: fixed it and uploaded the version of these files that worked for me.
