New Total War Game?

I actually hope they make a Shogun 2, would be interesting to see it with more content and up to date graphics, though I doubt they will. Not using gunpowder suggests it'll atleast be set before middle ages and the community seems to want a Rome 2.

That's interesting for sure. For my two cents, I played empire for less than five hours so I am not in love with the way the series is going (imo-graphics over gameplay). And the series in a little euro-centric so Shogun2 may be a nice switch.

It would be nice to get a Rome with China and Japan included, they were pretty developed at the time too. Actually, China would probably crush the Europeans with it's horsepower if it wanted to walk for thousands of kilometers.

My last purchased Total War game was M2:TW, and if continues as it is doing it will likely remain the last.

Although I don't count Steam as a problem, modability is one of the most important things. If it's just a slightly upgraded thing, without any new stuff, but less modable than MTW2, it's not worth purchasing.

I'd really like to see something like "Dark Ages - Total War". Starting at around 476 AD up to something around 900 AD.

This is my cynicism talking, but im not sure if this is entirely good news. I mean, my faith in CA is really shaken up after empire and napoleon, i hope they take as little as possible from those titles, and fix all of the monumental mistakes they made just in the basic layout of the title.

By that i mean: Allied armies of your own faction showing up on the battlemap as either AI's or troops under your controll, all at once, and at the same time. None of this "wait for one of your original units to die or rout" crap.

More provinces (dont make ALL of France able to be conquered by just taking two cities), more individuality for factions, as in the original (though ill bet the romans are the only completed faction, ala the brits in empire).

AI that is not completely retarded.

Steam being optional, not compulsory.

Some actual effort being made to find and fix bugs before release, not months afterward in a ton of patches that still dont solve fundamental problems with bad code and game ruining glitches.


Somehow, i think that these expectations are too lofty for CA. Shame too, Rome, shogun, or most other classical time-period stuff would probably look nice if done right, ah well.

Instead of waiting for a Rome 2 thats probably going to suck, i say wait for Roma Surrectum 2, or "All under Heaven" for shogun, as its probably going to be leaps and bounds better than whatever CA Australia is cooking up.

I read people on here and other places reporting the next TW game would be from Japan in the east to England in the west. No New World, and only parts of N Africa. Expanded map means probably France would only be 2-3 territories but if the map is moddable within a year or so there could be some very cool mods.

If the map was that big I'd like to see the major Euro countries at least 5 regions, so France, Spain, England etc. Though I can't quite see how they will do justice to the middle east... such a big region but somewhere CA has never particularly been interested in portraying before.

Otherwise it seems Rome 2 is most likely or CA might be more like Age of Empires with Moors fighting Chinese fighting Spanish etc.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a focus on the era of antiquity before the rise of Greece and Persia. So Babylon, Egypt, Assyria etc. Mods could then port any era up to the middle ages into that setting.

make a medieval 3, but i would much rather to see a rome 2 with a bigger map...

i really don't see any new concept they can bring, if they bring in modern wars, then total war is losing its way, imho....

Oh God, please tell me it's Rome 2 Total War. Or at least an up-to-date version of RTW. That's all I want, really, no fancy NEW game, new era or anything else. Just R2TW and I'll be happy forever.

Shogun 2, RTW 2, Dark Ages would all be good. Even ancient/classical era, well before RTW by a thousand years or 2, would be great.
