I have an idea for the Indian faction
Name Sapta Sindhu (aka Land of the Seven Rivers)
Symbol
Historic Background Before the Great Torment, a prosperous nation dwelled in the Southern part of what is known as Huang-Chuan. This nation was known as the Sapta Sindhu civilization. They were one of the most advanced nations of the time. Perhaps even greater than Avalon or even the Faustian Reich. They are responsible for the oldest religion know to man, Sindhuism, or way of the River. They developed their society on seven ancient rivers, all of which provided the Sapta with food, water, and access to the sea. The Sapta built schools to teach the young ones of Samsara, or the never-ending cycle of life and death. Their medicine was some of the best of its time, able to cure many diseases that were native to Huang-Chuan. They also developed a close bond with the Gor-Haws, majestic white elephants that roamed their land. They believed them to be sacred to their god, Vishuana, the creator and destroyer of life. They used the Gor-Haws as transportation and as gods.
Then came the Great Torment. Earthquakes ravaged the land, destroying their villages and farms. Fire spewed from the earth, burning down temples and shrines. The Seven Rivers, a sacred landmark to the Sapta, dried leaving vast fields of dead crops and sickness ravaged their population. The Sapta viewed this catastrophy not as the end of the world, but as the beginning of a new age. They prayed to Vishuana for his "blessing" upon their people. After the Great Torment ended, the Sapta resumed their lives, and they seemed to remember their past techniques. They replanted their fields, and built irrigation systems that would keep the plants alive. They rebuilt their schools and temples. It was as though nothing had happend.
Present situation There was one side effect though. To the North, the Lao Che peoples started to move in and ravage and plunder their lands. They were challenged with the constant raiding parties of the Samuri, who took the time of turmoil as an oppuritunity to plunder from the weak. Also, because of the Great Torment, their cities are small, and their people few. But they had one thing on their side, an aptitude for building. They are great builders and masterful architects. There have even been accounts of them building massive forts for the Romuli in just a matter of weeks. This skill will be essential to the Sapta's ressurrection.
Military The Sapta have never known war. It was alien to them. They were easy prey for the Lao Che. But they learned. They learned quickly. They were soon developing weapons that out classed most of the Lao Che's weapons. They made war machines, known as the Sound of Thunder, which were massive cannons built to destroy walls. They developed the art of war very quickly. In 20 years, they had a military that rivaled the Lao Che, maybe even surpassing them. They also have the power of the Gor-Haws. They quickly learned how to use the Gor-Haws as war machines. They found them to be suitable platforms from which to launch their arrows and as the perfect battering rams. Their infantry consist of mainly militia, with a unit known as the Golden Rajputs, heavily armoured warriors carrying vicious halberds.
Religion and Culture Though the people still primarily follow Sindhuism, the leaders of the Sapta worship Yamatai Yashima. This may have been due to the raids of the Lao Che constantly pushing on their borders, or perhaps, they and the Lao Che share a common ancestory. Their culture is that of Classical India.
I'm sure if this idea is accepted, somebody can make the background much better than this. It's just a rough idea
