Fellow Comrades,
I've been playing NTW for several weeks now and loving it, after my first campaign I switched to a mod (Tyrant) to enhance gameplay on all levels. And I've found that for a lot of mods and dreams we run into a barrier: history.
Basically the wars we play and scenarios we recreate all have a basis in reality and while this is fun, it also limits the possibilities for gameplay and scenarios. And this got me to thinking; why stick to history?
This spiraled me into a path of imagination, constrained only by the modding limitations currently before us (give modding tools nao CA :O!), and found that with the tech available in the game there is a lot of fun to be had and stuff to.. well.. uhm make up!
I would love to see a complete reshuffling of this gaming world with completely new nations with their own histories, tactics and goals. I would love to see actual religious and cultural struggle with made-up nations all distinct and perhaps even more importantly; free to be what we want them to be.
How about actual dedicated stake-layers? Grenadiers that can actually toss grenades? More dedicated melee units? It all becomes possible when we move out of actual history of the world into Otherworld history.
A brief overview of the kinds of things I envision:
- The major factions all have distinct specialisations in: artillery; light skirmishers and scouts; heavy cavalry; heavy infantry all tied with the origins of that nation.
- minor nations are mostly derived from the major ones with comparable units per specialisation type; BUT with distinct aspects.
- an area of recruitment system to enlarge the roster of troops for expanding nations.
- heavier emphasis on religion and culture as well as more exotic goals for nations.
- more melee units in general
- many more
These changes don't have to affect BAI and CAI fundamentally and thus can be changed seperately from the ideas I propose.
What do you guys think, would you like to see something like this?
Cheers,
Matz
