I don't think it can be done from NTW to ETW as the models are made differently (each part i.e. legs ,arms, turso have their own model)
ETW to NTW can be done however

Really?- as I am thinking about a Marlborough or Seven Years War mod I may finally need to swallow my principles and buy Empire then.

Presumably if one could solve problems around tech trees, faction renaming etc you could just import Empire models in wholesale for the 7 Years War armies and have a rough and ready version ready really quickly.
