    Default Questions about the Game...

I have several questions about the game, instead of creating a thread topic for each one, I just lumped them all here.......

    1. There is a battle formations button on the Battle Map, but its always grayed out, and I have never seen it active...Are their battle formations in the game?
    2. On the Campaing map when moving a unit, I right click where I want to go, and it usually takes me their in the most direct way..Sometimes it doesn't, and takes some long irritating way..Is there a way to see the path its going to take before clicking, so I do not get screwed?
    3. Is there a way to turn trees off, so I can see the battle on those maps where there are a lot of trees?
    4. Does tiring a unit out effect its battle performance?
    5. I couldn't withdraw my units to behind the red line in one of my battles..So my units were killed, including a general...What happened?
    6. Some people mention that you should reform your scattered units, is there a short cut key for that?
7*. When being seiged the AI initialy puts my units on walls, and each unit forms 2 very long lines. When I deploy my units from the walls to other areas like in front of the gate they maintain their formation. Can I get them into a more reasonable formation in deployment mode?

    * new question, I forgot this one...And thanks everyone for your answers...

I'm not sure about many question except:

4.- Yes. The more tired they get, their morale drops down faster.
5.- That's because you were fighting a 'fight to death' battle. You can't retreat.

if you get the following symbol, it means you are going to fight a 'fight to death' battle.

    1. You need to group your units first. Use "G" or group button next to formations (the one with flags).

    2. Right click but dont release the button. That way you can see the path.

    1. There is a battle formations button on the Battle Map, but its always grayed out, and I have never seen it active...Are their battle formations in the game? I'm not to sure but when something is greyed out it is unable to be done.
    2. On the Campaing map when moving a unit, I right click where I want to go, and it usually takes me their in the most direct way..Sometimes it doesn't, and takes some long irritating way..Is there a way to see the path its going to take before clicking, so I do not get screwed? If another army is blocking the path or it is simply impassable, the army/agent will turn in another direction. The best way to check is to look at the terrain and see if anything is blocking your path.
    3. Is there a way to turn trees off, so I can see the battle on those maps where there are a lot of trees? No, unless your gonna spend weeks editing the files so all trees are removed. Besides, trees make the map look pretty
    4. Does tiring a unit out effect its battle performance? Yes it does, a unit that is tired will fight at lesser perfomance than a fresh unit. The way to avoid this is to only make your units run or fight when relevant.
    5. I couldn't withdraw my units to behind the red line in one of my battles..So my units were killed, including a general...What happened? Your army has no movement points left or simply has nowhere to go on the map. An icon will appear in the battle menu, sometimes your armies will have no retreat and will have to fight to the death.
    6. Some people mention that you should reform your scattered units, is there a short cut key for that?[/
No that I know of, but I think there may be one.

On top of what has already been said

    4. tired units will rout easily, their morale is low.
    5. Also if you withdrew on the campaign map, you won't be able to withdraw on the battle field on the same turn. Best way is to withdraw from the battle field at the first encounter, you'll go further back (just make sure you don't have the symbol highlighted by Thursgun). Your general may loose some command or loyalty points, but the army will be intact.

6- maybe they mean when units of the same type have lost men, to put them together? So instead of 3 units of 80 men, you have 2 full units of 120.

If this is the case, you just have to drag them onto each other (in campaign mode, not battle mode)

And if 6. is a battle thing, you should give them a (new) order to move somewhere, they will gradually reform and stop being scattered around the map.

    1. That formation button is for groups. For example, if you group three units of infantry general and archers, you will have the options to make different formations. Which means you are given different possible ways to form them up in lines, like infantry in front, archers behind and generals behind archers.
    2. When you click it there should be a green movement area. If it takes the long way that means theres an enemy/ fort blocking it.
    3. No. Besides, the point for fog, trees is to make things harder for the player.
    4. Alot. Three exhausted units can lose to a similiar fresh unit assuming they fight to the last man. They also rout faster and in fact, for the battles that drag on if they get too exhausted they will rout straight away.
    5. The term being one of your battles, must be a glitch
    6. No shortcut, but you should drag the right mouse key to form it into a group again where you want it.

    1. When i'm not completely wrong, you can only use formations when a. you have selected more than one unit and b. when those units are in a group. You can put them in a group by either selecting them and pressing "ctrl" and a number, or by clicking on the "form group" button located at the bottom right of your screen.

    2. In that case the direct path is blocked by units from other nations. You can see which path your unit is going to take by selecting them, clicking the right mouse button where you want them to go and hold that button down. That way you can see which path they will take and also how many rounds it will take (different collour for every round). But i think that doesn't work when you click on a enemy city/castle, meaning you would have to click somewhere near that city (holding the right mouse button) and then drag your mouse over it. (wow i hope you understand that all) In short: hold the right mouse botten instead of clicking

    3. I guess for that you would have to edit the game files and i don't know nothing about that sorry.

    4. Like some people sad, it effects the morale. hint: when a unit is tired let them stand still (no walking/fighting) for a while. That way they refresh over time.

    5. See thursgun and his picture. hint: one of the occasions that happens, is when an enemy is attacking your city/caslte. (not 100% sure about that)

    6. If you meen replace lost men in a unit on the campain map: No. You would have to move them to a city/castle where that type of unit can be build and click on the right tab. It's called retrain. Or you could just do as eXistenZ sad.
If this question is regarding the battle map, just go with Stolet's advise and give them a order to move.

    I hope i could help.

That group formations is great, I now no longer have to manually put my archers behind my infantry in deployment mode, instead I can use the troops first group to do it, awesome... I will try out the other group formations (battle formations) latter..I have been playing the game for a little over a month, and been on this message board for a week, and I have gotten so much wonderful advice, and tips..Thanks everyone...

Hey Neptune its what we are here for! This forum is kinda liek a close nit group of friends, the more you get involved the more you will enjoy it as to group formations, let me give you another little thing that I do. I create my own costum formations during deployment. Group all your units and instead of arranging them as the pre set battle formations, customly arrange them. When the battle starts if they are still grouped and you will click somewhere you want them to go, they will retain that formation. This can make some wild formations like U shapes, Xs etc. Use your imagination!

be careful as faster units will reach their destination first, they wont march in shape.
