when byzantas of Megara (near Athens) (the founder of the ancient city of byzantium) went and asked to Oracle of Delfii where to place his colony, Pythia (the oracle) told him to build his city opposite of that of the "blind fools"....that city was "Chrysopolis (=golden city)" (modern-day Uskudar) opposite of Constantinople.....that area was difficult to defend, not very fertile, had much humidity and many swamps...and the people there hadn't noticed the opposite land in europe where it was more advantageous.....
