Welcome, Robertinho Funkeiro (eusemato). If you would like to play as the United States in 1700, there are other mods which allow you to this:-

    - Early American Revolution was based on USA Unlocked in 1700; it fixes some minor bugs and offers extra features including an optional unit pack. This mod is also in this 'Miscellaneous' sub-forum of the 'Mod Threads' forum (the same area as this thread). There is also These United Colonies, which allows you to play as the Thirteen Colonies from 1700, initially working with Britain (unless you choose to break away immediately) and then starting your own American Revolution at a time of your choosing. These United Colonies is also in the 'Miscellaneous' sub-forum of the 'Mod Threads' forum.

    - Both Empire Total Factions (ETF) and Sturm und Drang allow you to play as the US from 1700 with improved AI and other unlocked factions. ETF unlocks all factions, allowing you to play as the US, Mexico, Ireland, Scotland, Punjab and many other countries. Sturm und Drang (when installed) prevents the player from playing as the normal factions (Britain, France etc) and instead allows you to play as the US or new factions such as Haiti, Brazil, Belgium, Croatia and various states in India. If you install Sturm und Drang, you can tell the mod to switch between 'vanilla' (allowing you to play Britain, France, etc) and 'Sturm und Drang' (allowing you to play as the new factions). ETF does not include extra units but you can download a unit pack such as my unit pack for Early American Revolution, or the Additional Units Mod (which adds some units to the US roster) or the US units mod by md1453 (from the 'Unit Packs and Stats' area of the 'Mod Threads' forum). (Incidentally, I do not recommend using more than one mod which adds extra US units at the same time. If the number of units which can be recruited in Philadelphia goes beyond the maximum which the game allows, then the US capital will be unable to recruit any units - the recruitment panel will become blank). Sturm und Drang offers extra units and missions. Both of these mods offer better AI and other improvements. You'll find both these mods in the 'StartPos mods' section of the Hosted Mods forum.

    - The American Revolution, which offers an impressive range of historical units plus many other great features. You'll find it in its own sub-forum of the Hosted Mods forum.

A new download link is available below.

    Credit
This mod, and all credit for it, belongs to Scourge012.

    What this mod does
This mod unlocks the United States for play at the start of the Grand Campaign. It provides the US with two regions (New York and New England), a school, a trading port and a shipyard. The US does not have any starting armies or fleets, but you start with enough money to recruit them.

    Known issues
If you fortify Boston, the game will crash.

For more known issues, see the OP.

    How to install
    1. Download the file using the link below.

    2. On a Windows PC, open your C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/empire total war/data/campaigns/main folder. Rename startpos.esf to something like vanilla startpos.esf. When you start the Grand Campaign, the game uses the startpos.esf file in this folder to define the starting position. Keep a backup copy of the vanilla startpos file somewhere else (for example in a sub-folder called Vanilla files)

    3. If you don't have 7zip, download 7zip and install it. Right-click on the zipped file and select Zip, then 'Extract to startpos'.

    4. Open the folder, copy and paste the startpos.esf to
    C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/empire total war/data/campaigns/main folder.

    5. Check your installation. Is the modded startpos.esf in the correct folder? Is it called startpos.esf (if you renamed it, for example to modded_startpos.esf, the game won't use it)?
