I haven't heard about a city called Bulgary in Italy, but all Bulgar-related toponyms in Italy are considered to be either from the times of the early Bulgar settlements there (Alziok/Alzek's ones in Lombard times; see Vincenzo D'Amico) or from the later times of the spreading of Bogomilism (often called "the Bulgarian heresy" and its proponents often called "Bulgarians"; see f.e. this documentary (a little bit of self-advertising)). Nothing related to the Slavs as such...
