I agree. Enemy artillery wasn't usually that much trouble to me as they would usually overshoot, and hit a few hundred metres behind my lines. Now with this mod, I have shells coming down basically on my lines giving me far more casualties than I usually had taken.

The screenshots are coming tonight when I upload my first round of very rough stopgap textures until we can import some new textures and/or models into the game.

i should have took some. seriously most battlefields are completely littered with bodies because the men fight in a loose formation and casualties are so high from artillery as the advance. and of course once the rifle shooting begins.....

The new update will be 100% compatible with savegames, so no worries.

I will also be showing you my updated startpos later. Though its still not ready for a download, as I have yet to decide the starting techs and buildings for factions.

This will include the Italy, Gibraltar, Austria border changes that have been disscused in the thread to now make it more historicaly accurate. You can see the new map and again discuss any more changes, though I'm pretty sure unless I'v made a huge historical mistake, I will be done with the the regions.

Edit: Forgot to say, I will also be showing you the build of the starting armys. So you can decide if we've got 'em right.

Why does Belgium include the Netherlands?
Why not Belgium and the Netherlands seperately?

Because Belgium was a major thorn in the side of the German advance early on, and so for accuracy reason they need to be able to give Germany a hard time, at least early on, something they won't be able to do with only one province.

So, since Dutch borders cannot be accurately represented due to the premade provinces anyway, it just makes more sense to represent only Belgium, at least for gameplay reasons.

Alright! Just did the first ever artist thing in my life !!!!!

This Mod now has an editied Main Menu, nothing big, but still I'm happy with myself.

I've sent it to Thor, and hopefuly he can implement it before the next release.

IS there any way we could implement gas masks? like a button to enable disable it? and just alter the face skin... I assume you will implement gas. And the down side of enabling the gas masks could be decreased accuracy, say by 10-15 or something?.....
Field Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener KG, KP, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, ADC, PC (24 June 1850 – 5 June 1916), was an Irish-born British Field Marshal and proconsul who won fame for his imperial campaigns and later played a central role in the early part of the First World War, although he died halfway through it.

Gas may be implemented via altering quicklime, but as of yet, gas and certainly gasmasks, are pretty far off.

However, one of the problems with gas would be properly balancing it. I could, perhaps, reserve gas for experimental howitzers and have them buildable only at the final cannon-foundry.

But yes, gas will be implemented at some point.

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=235863

at least it has a lot of sci-fi concept art of a paralel universe mod that has common elements with WWI

It might be possible to alter the quicklime shot type, and then alter it's explosion to leave excess smoke, but it's all guess work my skills are nowhere near that of Thoragoros's when it comes to the PFM stuff. The Gas mask bit sounds very complicated and beyond us at the moment.

EDIT: Wow Thor, your quick at the replys... we basiacly said the same thing though... same brainwave

Would be difficult to model Gasmasks, horses would also need some.

I have been 'tinkering,' and yes, implementing something along the lines of gas projectiles is possible (using modified quicklime shells). So, although it may not be in the next release, it will definitely be implemented for Experimental Howitzers.

It's a shame the map isn't moddable (yet). Territory gain was minimal on the western front, so the von Schlieffen plan would actually work in this mod. Which is kinda a shame, let's all hope for modding tools!
