but this isnt mean as some "religion item" this is mean just as a symbol of ambassadors, but yes maybe greeks could take it from East, because in dark age greeks adopted many things ( for example gods - they just rename them) from other cultures/nations.
P.S. on the top of staff didn't must be nessesary snakes

sumerian is common on babylon and ashur,at the begining,but...
the arameans,israelites,philastines and judeans were writing in several canaanitealphabets and languages.
ancient hebrew:
philistia,israel,judah.
phoenician:
phoenicians,most arameans(others wrote hebrew).
aramaic:
arameans(later times),ashur and babylon (later timmes),israel and judah(after babylonian exile).
and egyptians wrote egyptian.
so the trait language should change by place and time.
