Don't have the answer mate but The Great War mod team did a good job of it. Try and get in contact with them.

I think only britian, france and spain have unique textures.

you misunderstood : I mean ONE ship only

It should work like in ETW for all Nations, that don't use the special textures.

Which reminds me of the mistery, how NTW assignes those national textures to france, britan and spain. It doesn't seem to be in the model as there is only the generic texture linked, but till now i have now idea how it works.

    Blade ; I'v' been trying to adapt your mod by all means .....until now noway to edit the naval_model using the PFM ; the game crashes on loading ;

(Also no way to add a new model ship editing the naval models in an Hexa editor and adding a new model )

Did you try to add a renamed model_naval like my_model_naval, only containing the new models? That way i did it in ETW, though it is still tricky. there are digits with stringlengths you need to keep an eye on...

I've tried different things like addind at the bottom a naval model such as the Xebec ; no success

I have tried to substitute using the same name as Dhow and putting the Xebec model instead ....same

I have tried to add inside the model naval (in PFM) another model naval table ....idem ; though I'm not a pro at using an Hexaeditor , but each time I have changed a single thing inside that file ; the game didn't run

About the texture : I wanted to customize Only one ship ; I couldn't find a way ; Only the whole faction get the same Hull

Changing the oroginal model_naval will most likely lead to crash. This problem i already got with ETW.

You will need to make an additional table, which only have the wanted model inside and name it i.e. my_model_naval.

Inside this model_naval_table and also in an added my_warscape_naval you put the new model, with changed links to the new textures. Beware that before a text, there are two digits, which define the lenght of the text in hexadecimal numbers. So if you make a change, which change text length and you don't change the number for text length in the file you will get a crash.

It was already in ETW complicated and time consuming to add ships, which was there nessesary to add textures. Mayby that was the reason, i was the only one who did this.
In NTW it shouldn't be any easier, though mayby we find a easier way to add more national textures for the ships.

    Very important for me to know that ;

But where are those 2 digit ? I can't see them
exemple : there's only dots before the name

Look at the hex side of the editor. There you find, that between

    07 00 31 00 64 00 65 00 63 00 6B 00 32 00 34 00 2B 00 52 00 69 00 67 00 69 00 64 00 4D 00 6F 00 64 00 65 00 6C 00 73 00 5C 00 6E 00 61 00 76 00 61 00 6C 00 5C 00 31 00 64 00 65 00 63 00 6B 00 32 00 34 00 5C 00 6C 00 6F 00 67 00 69 00 63 00 2E 00 78 00 6D 00 6C 00 2E 00 72 00 69 00 67 00 67 00 69 00 6E 00 67
    ..1.d.e.c.k.2.4.+.R.i.g.i.d.M.o.d.e.l.s.\.n.a.v.a.l.\.1.d.e.c.k.2.4.\.l.o.g.i.c...x.m.l...r.i.g.g.i.n.g
You see the first dot isn't really a dot. It's a seven and stands for the 7 letters of 1deck24. also the plus isn't a plus it stands for the hex 2B and defindes the lenght of "RigidModels\naval\1deck24\logic.xml.rigging".

    Hope this clear the problem...

but regarding the Xebec it's not working ..........

What is the inportance of the + (Hex 2B) ? and in this example it's a "1" that stands for what

    thnks for your time

"2B" means 43 letters and signs following in clear text.

Hex-numbers base on a different system base on 16 and not 10 as the decimal system. Instead of 0-9 you can have for each digit, you have 0-f. this mean that 10 as a hexdecimal number would be 16 as a decimal number.

the "0D" in you graphic would be 13 and the "1" you speak of is 31 in hex, which would be 49 in decimal.

While you can read the text better on the right side, the important part is the left side of the editor...

It is a little confusing, if you never worked with other than our usual decimal system, it is quite easy to make a mistake, when you edit and it is very time consuming, but it is up to now the only way to make changes to model files and the model_naval_table.

For the Model_naval you only need it, if you try to put in a renamed model (i.e. my modified models with new textures in the SL-Mod for ETW). Using a Model, that doesn't exist in NTW, but ETW means you would just need to copy the part of the model_naval, which contains the data of the chosen ship and the table header to a new table for NTW.

I see a problem to make such a mod. As ETW is not nessesary to play NTW, you would make copyrighted material availible to persons, that don't own ETW. You should at least try to ask CA about their opinion about doing this.

Well I just want to Add a Xebec model to my Egyptian Campaign (see my thread)....and I would do it if I knew how to

The SL-mod doesn't load at all in NTW ; even with the same common ships (and I know how to use your mod) ; so with the Xebec that is not inside ...

Etw had more models for the bigger shiptypes. In NTW you don't have national variants. So this would limit the SL-Minimod.

The big version, which is also outdated for ETW and won't run there, have a unit_stats_naval, that won't work with NTW. Additionally the table headers are most likely wrong for NTW, which will cause trouble with the model_naval.

So putting in the xebec, will need a NTW-model_naval_table, where you erease everything but the tableheader and add the xebec part from ETW.

This should run, but i can't promise, as i will not do this for my own as long as it is not cleared by CA to do this.

I don't see any header when I open the file with HexWorkshop ; what should I see ?

The header is in the first hex-digits. they are different for ETW and NTW and also different if a table is changed by a patch.

As i said, i don't see a big technical problem to put ETW-ships into NTW, but a legal one. otherwise i would make it for you (i would also like to put the Xebec in NTW, as it was commonship in the mediteranean also in Napoleonic Times).

After putting in hull textures, i just put in the first special ship unit - the HMS Victory.
Before anyone start to argue: i didn't use parts of the SE Victory of ETW. All is out of NTW or selfmade.

The picture is from ETW, as i was in progress to bring the Victory stern to all british ships, but the NTW version looks quite the same.

To be sure that i'm right about bringing ships of ETW to NTW, i just tried the 2deck44 today - and have to apologise.

It seems that CA changed also something at the models directly (compared 1deck24 of NTW and ETW). Mayby because of the new possibility to add different hull-textures. But this also makes ETW-ships incompatible with NTW.

    Sorry for the bad news...

    I do not agree ....
I can put the ETW Xebec MODEL instead of the Dhow in game of the Napoleon (this is easy to do); and it works ; it can sail ; fire and everything ; the only thing is that I have the wrong placement of guns and men; but of course this is because
I don't how to insert the model inside the models_naval_tables of NTW using the Hexeditor
