online battle commentaries VS battle tutorials/tactics overview

So I've been uploading online commentary battles on Youtube lately and the feedback I've been getting from different players has been pretty interesting. It seems that the majority of people who have watched the videos seemed to appreciate the tactical advice and strategies I went over in my last few videos. So I was wandering how many people would be interested in something slightly different than commentary on online battle footage? I've uploaded 5 battle commentaries so far and I was thinking of making a video that pretty much summarizes a lot of the tactics, tips and strategies I used... into one video. If I decide to do something like this it'll be a 'NTW Online Multiplayer Tactics' video once after every 5 commentaries and act as a summary of the lessons learned in the 5 videos preceding it. I won't have footage of an online battle, instead what I'll do is draw out battle schematics with arrows and diagrams and explain them as I go along. Flank overload, cavalry maneuvers such as disruption and harassment as well as ambushing have all been covered in my last videos. A tactics video after the last 5, in my opinion, would help make the things covered 'sink in' if you like.

I think it would be a great idea. I already suggested and I'll just suggest again, consider the campaign after "exam period" as well as dual-commentaries with some clan members or other commentators (Try the big guys like PrinceofMacedon or JosefVStalin, perhaps they'll agree).

maybe splice in some clips from the previous videos showing examples of what your talking about, before moving on to the next example?

Yes, showing examples is a great way to teach people.

Perhaps get someone preset into the match so you can give proper examples.

@Bryanrows yea that's exactly what I'd be doing to demonstrate the schematics and diagrams.

Perhaps in the right hand corner have a diagram of what is going on?

Because the minimap is good and all, but it doesn't really explain much. You can also point out things better on a diagram.

What you've suggested sounds nice. Another thing that would be superb during the regular videos would be breaks in the battle to enlarge the mini map and point out where all the units are but I'm not sure how feasable that is.

@yodafly: i might look into that... at the moment i'm thinking of creating flash videos to explain everything. It's still an idea though.

I'd certainly watch it, especially considering your recent videos have been excellent!

Yea I don't think anybody has attempted something like thisbefore... Perhaps it could become a new 'thing' that people do. There are an awful lot of commentators out there but very few of them focus strongly on explaining tactics and reasoning their actions on the battlefield. I'd certainly love to see people talk about their own strategies and approaches to online multiplayer battles.

I'm quite aware of this issue now. Quite a few people have pointed this out. I'll make sure the music volume is slightly lower next time. As for the tactics overview, I'm already working on it. It should be up either tomorrow or the day after.

but dont forget that we want to be entertained! learning stuff from this kind of movies goes along with having a nice time watching cool scenes (like 1man running away followed by the whole enemy army *g*)

-keep shematics to a minimum
-make sure everybody understands you (i remember a movie where someone constantly coffed in his mic, lol, i dont want to hear that)
-dont get to fanzy with music
-no superfast camera-movements
-stick with superior graphics
-entertain us!
