But, where is the userscript? I know it's supposed to be under the scripts folder, but the only file I see is preferences.script... I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong place or what, but that's where I hear most people say it is

It's there unless it's not there. In case of the latter, create it yourself with notepad and save in Unicode.

You have to start a game and make changes to the game options first before the userscript will appear. If you are using Win7 the location is (by default) under your user profile on the C drive, not in program files. You have to set folder permissions to "view hidden files/folders" to get to the scripts.
