    Default Elven Workshop

    Objectives:

    -Improve 3d models for elven units
    -Make new 3d assets (weapons, armour, etc..)
    -Make brand new armour upgrades for most elven units
    -Change some designs where necessary
    -Make new units

    This is a big project so hopefully some people will contribute their designs, models or textures. Also feel free to give feedback and share ideas and concepts.
    I'll try to post 1 or 2 updates per week and release completed works once in a while.

    Elrond Hero Model:

    Elrond 3d model based on the design featured in the Hobbit trilogy.
    Comes with a custom bodyguard.
    Extract to your Third_Age_3/data folder.

    Created by Louis Lux, includes assets from Lu Bu, Razor and Yarrum.

    I made a few corrections to the existing eldar units and I made elite versions of them that can be used as special bodyguards.

    Quendi units:

    This unit might need a slight redesign, ideas are welcome. For the upgrade my idea is to give them leather robes based on these designs from the films:



    I have some ideas and concepts for the other elven units but nothing too solid.

    In the official 3.2 the Elvs are smaller than humans in every dimension. I had notticed it and mentioned it long before since the MARKA horses came into mod.I hope this will fix them.
    TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
    Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

    IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
    Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

    Imo Silvans crave for rework more than High Elves.

    Quendi: there could be robes and current one both, like you never know who shows up in what.

    The sword in the coloured picture is way too short to be held two-handed. The arrow in the coloured picture is too low; it should be resting on the fist holding the bow.

    What is the purpose of the spike on the sword, and how do you get the sword into the scabbard with that spike on it?

    Spikes on pauldrons...?

    I've never heard of leather robes. They should be cloth.

    Ah yes, billowing robes that don't let you take large steps. Perfect for combat.

    These drawings are made by people who don't have a clue about medieval warfare, arms and armour, and don't have much common sense either. Look at the curved quiver...

    Thanks for the concepts, some interesting stuff.

    I wish I could redo all the elves but time is limited, I'll do what I can maybe sneak one or two silvan units.

    I don't quite understand what you mean about the robes. I like the elf concept with the hawk, I think some thick leather gauntlets would give the unit some extra flavour.

    IIRC, it can be used in function like a guard, stopping opponents blade from sliding to your hand. The scabbard is wider in the top side.

    Ah okay. You mean the female models can have longer robes. I think I got a good idea for the quendi thanks to your concepts. I want to change the shields as well, if you have some ideas let me know.

    Cool helmet, would be a good fit for Mithlond nobles.

    ps: the scabbard has a slit on the side in the physical object.

    Louis your models are high quality ones. Question. After that overhaul of High elvs can we expect a TATW 4.0 ussing the best models , unique settlements etc from other mods that are close to your quality work and have units with real armor upgrades?

    Interesting question. The thought has crossed my mind, I would probably have to talk to the admins here if I could release an official update for Third Age. It would be fairly limited in scope like bugfixes, new settlements and updated visuals for some units.
    Probably too soon to talk about it, the earliest I can see something like that happening is next year.

    Few modders created some high detailed models of orcs and dwarfs and others. Also older mods include Gondor and other faction armor upgrades.
    Ofcourse 2-3 modders created unique settlements...
    I could help with horse varietion when TGC will reach 1.0 this year.

    The aor units and the general's bodyguard have straight swords, so I'll probably be working on some straight swords as well.

    Don't suppose someone could provide example entries for the BMDB?

    Looking at TATW Vanilla 3.2, I don't see these textures in the BMDB at all: eldar_fig.texture, eldar_fig_norm.texture, elite_att_diff.texture, elite_att_norm.texture, elite_fig_diff.texture & elite_fig_norm.texture - so I'm kinda lost as to where they go.

    I see eldar_att.texture & eldar_att_norm.texture go to: elf_sword, elf_sword_upg, elf_spear, elf_spear_upg, elf_archer_noldor, elf_archer_noldor_upg, elf_lance and elf_lance_upg.

    The figure textures _fig come first in the bmdb entry. The first line is for the diffuse texture and the line below for your normal texture _norm. The next lines are for the attachment textures _att, again diffuse _diff first followed by the normal texture.
