    Default Lesson 5 ~ FINAL!

    Lesson 5 FINAL
Ok guys, this is the final lesson. This will be the exam, finish this and you will get your award, presuming you've
completed the other lessons. This must been the hardest lesson for me to do, and I hope you will understand it
For this lesson I want you to be independant and creative. You must ofcourse follow the lesson, but try to be creative,
instead of following the lesson like a zombie that follows it's prey, it takes no shortcuts that might result in catching the prey

    Let's start

Open up a new canvas, size 430x140. See picture below!

Now is probably the most important step of all, choosing the right picture. We want something with movement/action in it.
We also want something nice looking, and with good colours, i.e not something with 100 different colours, but a few that match together.

I took this picture (warning really huge): http://z.about.com/d/classicrock/1/0...amiesquire.jpg
I took this pictures cause it has movement, immensive action and a nice focal. It's also huge and HQ. And it's the Boss.

So I figure you have chosed a picture, copy and then paste it onto the canvas we recently created and resize as you like.

After resizing my picture so much, it has lost its sharpness. Create a new layer, go "image->apply image".
Go "filter-sharpen-sharpen". Erase the non focal, my focal would be Bruce and those blue smoke clouds.

Now we will start smudging, so pay attention.
Take forth your smudge tool, if you don't know wich one it is check the intro of the first lesson!

Go press Window in the top menu, and click on "brushes". I couldn't take a screenshot of this.
Now I want you to copy everything I've done in the brushes window. The first picture is about the brush you should choose,
    everyone has it.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So I hope you managed to copy my settings. Now comes the fun part, the smudge. Depending on your choice of picture,
I can't give detailed explanation of where to smudge.
Create a new layer, "image-apply image".

The smudge tool works like the brush tool, it's basically just to brush the picture. We don't wan't to smudge our focal, but
before we start, make sure you have these settings at the top:

Now start smudging as you like, just keep the above words in mind.

The colours aren't too great, but that we will correct later.

Now we will add a C4D. Yes, you heard me right!

In the spoiler below here, I've collected some C4D's. If you want you may find one yourself for your liking, but the background has to be transparent.
It's also good if the C4D matches the movement of your sig.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Credit to Ratbag for the C4D's.

I choose the first one, since it is blue and matches my movement in the sig.
Save the C4D, open it with photoshop and then paste it onto your signature. Resize as you see fits best.

Now put the layer mode to lighten. If there is some part of the C4D directly in front of the focal, i.e a face,
erase the C4D slightly with a soft brush.

Now copy this layer, by pressing CTRL+J on your keyboard. Turn the layer mode on the copied layer to normal.
Now take forth your smudge tool again. Smudge the whole C4D, and do it heavily.

Now put the layermode to soft light, and opacity on 70%.

Things are starting to look good now!

Now, we will do things some would call intermediate, so watch and pay attention!
Go "Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Black and White". Press OK on the popup.
Now our picture will be Black and White. If you pay attention, you will notice that your foreground and background
colour also turned black and white. Take forth your brush tool, choose a 300px brush 0% hardness, make sure
black is the foreground colour and simply brush a LITTLE on the focal, one click should be enough.

That you just did above was working with a layermask, very effective method. But I will not go through it in this course,
since it's a bit more than basic.

Now go "Layer - New adjustment layer - Photofilter". Press OK on the popup.

Light blue is the main colour of my sig, and therefore I change the colour to lightblue and increase opacity.

Now I actually would say we are done. If you want to sharpen the focal even more, do so. Add a border. Add a text if you want.

Save the signature as both .PSD and .PNG!

    Examination (homework)
To pass this class, you need to show that you understand how to smudge and use a C4D in a piece of art. This you show me by posting your signature in .PNG and a download link to your PSD aswell. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY SUBMISSIONS LATER THAN THE 7TH APRIL!
