Default [NTW AAR] Debts of Honour: The Movie (COMPLETED)

    (The AAR Movie)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello! Welcome to the home of Debts of Honour, a Total War movie! The video is divided into 10 minute segments on Youtube.

Links (make sure to watch in HD! ):
    Trailer
    PART 1
    PART 2
    PART 3
    PART 4
    PART 5
    PART 6

This story follows the adventures of Colonel Bertrand Wilford of the British Colonial Dragoons in the early 19th Century. He is one of the characters featured in my AAR “The Journals of John MacDougal”. Just to be clear, this is a work of fiction, and the “Napoleonic War” is a fictional one created during one of my NTW single-player campaigns.

For more background, story, and videos related to the MacDougal Journals, go HERE.

Many mods were used to enhance the video, so a great big thanks to these guys!

    Q&A
(trying to save some folks the time to write me PMs )

What sound mod are you using?

I'm using Dignans sounds for all land battles, and Radious for the naval battles.

What programs are you using to make the movie?

Only FRAPS (freeware version) and Sony Vegas 9 Professional Edition. There is a 30-day trial version on their website.

    Where is that song from?

I used songs mainly from soundtracks, but not entirely. Those soundtracks include Pirates of the Caribbean, Chronicles of Narnia, Angels and Demons, True Romance, Contact, Meet Joe Black, King Kong, and Harry Potter.

    Why no voice-overs?

Tried it, and couldn't do it without it sounding cheesy to the point of distraction. I found out its harder than one might think. If I could get Morgan Freeman, I'll re-edit the whole thing!

Are you using some sort of night mod?

No...I'm just messing with the colours in Vegas.

Thats great, really epic feel to it

I hope once you've finished the entire video, you put a download link up somewhere on the full movie, i'd much rather watch it all in one go. However, I'll probably end up just watching your youtube 10minute videos anyway

I'll do that if someone can point me to a free filesharing service that can handle a very large file and people can access without waiting 2 weeks. I'm sure it exists, but I'm not very knowledgeable in this area...suggestions most welcome!

    cheers!

Fair point, I forgot the file is likely to be huge. haha. I suppose you could try www.mediafire.com or rapidshare.com. Either way, I don't want you to do it if only I want it, concentrate on the actual video first afterall, haha.

I would love to do this, and will look into it, because some countries are blocking some of my audio due to copyright on youtube (do they think I'm making money????!?!?! lol). My MAIN problem is my computer. I need about 50 Gig of HD space to make a 10 minute video, even though the final file is only about 500 meg. I have to make my movie in segments because I don't have enough HD space to do otherwise

    Very nice

Will it follow the same narritive as the War Correspondant story? Or is this a completley seperate war/history/universe?

overall, it will follow the same "history line"...however, it explores Colonel Wilford's life outside of Spain, and even in Spain some events that the AAR didn't touch. I will try my best to remain consistent though.

    cheers

Yes, that was an ambitious and wonderful effort and now I have more appreciation for the time that Werner must have spent on it. I saw that a few years back and have never forgotten it. For anyone interested, here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82TAytoqQQA

Yes! For anyone new to the story, Colonel Bertrand Wilford led a scouting force for Wellington in the Spanish campaign of my AAR, and then led the attack at Medina Hill during the battle of Pamplona.

Don't do that. I saw you'd updated this thread and thought the movie was out

When you're ready, try to avoid sites like mediafire and megaupload (for the full size movie DL) - I feel like I need a virus scan every time I browse past those sites. I've been using www.filesmelt.com lately, which works well.

What do you use to make your movies? Is there some sort of cinematic editor like in M2TW?

He uses vegas 9, and a touch of magic pixie dust. They are really good.
    Can't wait for release!
