ETW book suggestion: Crucible of War
Hi all!
I just finished reading Crucible of War, by Fred Anderson. I have read countless war history books, and this was amoung the most enlightening.
The sus-title is "The Seven Years War and the Fate of Empire in British North America, 1754-1766". The writing style is never dry, but is never over-dramatic, and moves at a very good pace (think Anthony Beevor's writing). All sources are well referenced. Basically, if you wish to understand much more about the intricate and complex politics of the various first-nations tribes and what that meant to the French/British conflict, this book explains this very well, especially to those new to that particular topic.
The book does touch upon events in Europe at the time, but only in so far as they related to affairs in North America.
Cheers all, and enjoy!
The Nanny
