Grenadiers

I find them to be useless. Their unit size is smaller than line infantry and their reloading skill is also worse. They have better accuracy but that really doesn't pay up. Their price is also higher than line infantry but I don't understand why. I have done a few tests with different grenadier units against line infantry but line inf always won. I never use grenadiers because of that. If anybody can tell me how to use them effectively INSTEAD of line infantry then please do so.

They are not my favorite units either but a couple work well for clearing buildings and as a reserve behind the lines.

The grenades are okay but I almost never use them.

Make them toss a volley of grenades into the enemy line, then charge immediately after throwing. 9 times out of 10 you'll win the melee with minimal casualties.

QFT. Grenadiers aren't meant to be in shooting duals. I rarely fire a shot with them. They are the first on the walls, into the breach and to bayonet charge in any battle. Then again I play as russia mostly so my grenadiers have a considerable melee advantage over the other factions.

Yeah the Russian melee bonus definitely helps, but the results are the same for all grenadiers.

They were the storm troops of the era all right. That is how they were meant to be used.

I guess the undersized units are to discourage anyone from using masses of the special troops.

Charge with them! They had good melee stats, and big morale. Flanking or attacking from the rear would be perfect with them. Also, don't attack with grenades, they are very UP (and I like it)

imo the grenades aren't underpowered, maybe the effect of one group of grenadiers isn't as shocking as it used to be in E: TW but if you have a few groups throwing at a clump of line, you'll see them run fast enough :p

You definitely will see them run...but IMHO not fast enough

i only use them with russia

those pavlosk grenadiers just about beat anything with 1 volley then charge

I dont believe historically they even had grenades at this point they are as many have pointed out melee specialists fire and charge in close the grenadier will make mince meat of the far better shooting line

That is correct. Grenadiers had turned into basically elite infantry units preferably made up of the largest available soldiers. I would have liked it if the soldier models reflected this by making the grenadiers taller and larger than the average soldier.
