I for one would support sending diplomats to Carthage to present terms of surrender.

I grow weary of this bickering. Senators, I depart for the legions. I will bring these barbarians to their knees and send rivers of gold into the city.

"Be silent! Everyone knows Tribunes cannot be removed from the city during their time of office. And you cannot call a vote of no confidence. I serve the Roman people. Unless they meet and vote in favour of my expulsion you cannot remove me."

    Gallus stood.

"I have removed my veto. I see there is overwhelming support in favour of atacking Macedon and I consent agreement. However, I would ask that we make peace with Carthage before we do anything."

Gallus began to sit but stood again.

"And good luck to you Consul, we expect your return" said Decius "but to the matter's at hand, would the carthaganians accept a Surrender?"

Senator Speratus arrived at the curia and took his seat. Still feeling unready to debate on such a contentious topic he was content to listen for now.

And spread our forces too thin again. Did we not just go over this? Or are you being intentionally thick?

"If you plan on taking the city of Carthage then that, at this time, is impossible. Peace terms should be presented before we even attempt to move our troops again. We are Romans and courteous ones. We are not some rabble from Germania. We should present our terms. If they accept, fine. Good for the both of us. If they refuse, we shall meet them in battle like real men should."

Unfortunately, that was not the plan the consuls presented to this body. Macedon has taken a priority before Carthage.

"Well that plan is foolish! It allows our chief enemy to gain power. Here is what will happen, Senators, we will defeat the Northern tribes and Macedon and we will be weak due to the vast number of wars we have fought. Carthage will consolidate and grow until it attacks us again! CARTHAGE MUST BE DESTROYED!!"

As the Tribune has removed his veto I'm going to leave the senate to prepare my departure.

Gallus looked at Dalmatius for a long moment.

All right. Tribune, you seem to be having serious problems - maybe it would be more healthy if you stayed at home for... say... the rest of the year? It might be hard for you to understand - I hope you can read Latin - but can you take out what this scroll shows? (OOC: I mean, don't think screenshots were invented back then)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

And that report is months old! The Macedonians could've already crossed the Rubicon from the news we get. What's more important to you? Italia or a stupid, worthless city in Africa? To me, Rome's safety is more important than your wild dreams to destroy the descendants of the enemies of our ancestors. There is no such thing as 'chief enemy'. The greatest enemy is always the one that threatens our people, our city the most.

We simply do not have the time or manpower for a simultaneous campaign in Africa. A campaign that can wait.

"Tell me, what is the composition of that army? Is it full of elite Alexandrian phalanxes or of weak skirmishers and militia? I am willing to bet the latter. You're right as far as we know they are at Italy but in the same breath they may have not even moved resolving to wait the city out. I am Tribune of the People the ROMAN people. The citizens of that town are not Roman. As the people's Tribune I see more of a eventual threat to Roman lives from Carthage should they be given the time they need to rebuild, the Macedonia, a country which has been weak ever since Alexander died. So BE SILENT and sit down you sniveling little whelp! You know nothing of what the Roman people want. I am Tribune, so therefore I AM the people."

    Demagogue! Tyrant! King! Fool!

How dare you... how dare you tell me to be silent? How dare you order me to sit down? How dare you act as if you were the People themselves?! I am senior to you in everything: blood, status, age - and very clearly, in common sense, too! My family had served this Republic from the very first days that it was formed!

Now, as I have better things to do than to argue with a fool, I will not bring up the countless logical points which makes it clear that Macedon should be dealt with first. I know very well, that no one else in this House is such an inept!
