NTW:Sound problem (no sound in-game)

I've had a horrible issue with the sound on napoleon total war, all the menus, battles, campaign etc are inexplicably silent, but they worked, well, yesterday! can anyone help?

If you unplugged your speakers for reason, reinstall your sound drivers.

Yep, I have the same problem. No sound ingame. Well, the SEGA logo has sound, but the menue, campaign, battles...: No sound at all. The only thing I did was to update my graphics drivers.
Before that the sound works well in NTW.

My rig: XP 32 bit, ATI 4870, catalyst 10.2 driver, Creative Audigy 2 soundcard, DirectX 9.0c.

btw: ETW sound is working well and my sound card has no problem anywhere else: Only in NTW.

Delete the scripts file and check the game cache integrity. Something may have changed when you installed thenew drivers.

Thank you for your help, it didn´t work. I have installed the game again and now the sound is ok. Strange.

Ok, maybe the user.script was the problem. I deleted the preferences txt, but not checked my user.script for 4 mods I´m using.

you need to make sure that EVERYTHING in your user.script matcher LETTER FOR LETTER to the names of the mods they correspond to for instance

if you have

realism_mod.pack
then the script entry would be
mod realism_mod.pack;

some modders for some reason add
mod "mod_realism_mod.pack";
which is WRONG!!! they need to match EXACTLY or else you get sound problem and you dont need the quotes only if there are spaces in the name of the mod.

cheers for your help guys. my napoleon was working great then i brought the peninsular campaign dlc and i loose all sound except the start vid. but like u suggested i deleted my scripts nd restarted the game. works great again. cheers guys

Hi, i made the mod stated on Dee Jay tutorial but when I run the game I got no sound at all. Ony the vid has sound. If i delete the user script the sound comes back. Any idea?

A mod is meesing it up.

Fix the mod or have it fixed and you will fix the problem.

first, let me say as a professional audio engineer who works endlessly with audio drivers that, no, unplugging your speakers will not require you to reinstall audio drivers in a million years. Also, the easiest way to check in the integrity of your audio drivers is to simply open another program that has sound, and check it! Unless you're using a DAW (digital audio workstation) that purposely locks your sound drivers to a single program, you are fine.

What that means is don't run NTW or ETW or any video game while programs like Fruity Loops, Ableton, Presonus, Pro Tools, or any other DAW are open.

This did fix my problem, first try. Follow the link guys, it's useful.
I double checked that all of the mods in the user.script file were, in fact, installed, and there were 3 that were not. They were sub mods of the All In One mod, so double check after you install those.

Also, as a mod user and an actual modder of the game Skyrim, I think I should mention the importance of load order. I have already solved numerous NTW mod problems on my own just by experimenting with load order.

Basically, if two mods that are both installed try to edit or access the same file, the one that is loaded LAST will get permission to do so. This means that the order of mods in your user.script file is incredibly important.

For example, if you know that two mods edit the main theme song, and you have a conflict that causes a CTD or the theme song itself not playing, the first thing to change would be the order of those two mods. It means they are conflicting with one another.

I am writing this for those who are new to modding, as the topic of load order does not come up much on this forum.
