The game starts in 1080, so that wouldn't work necessarily. Anyway it was an Irish battle, (against Vikings) and the last time I checked, the Irish weren't a civilization in this game.

    This one would be interesting...
    The Battle of Kulikovo
I also suggest that we make a list of battles that have already been mentioned...

Battle of Aljubarrota (14 August 1385 in center Portugal)

If you need specific information about the battle's terrain geography, deployement tactics and military equipement, as well as an extensive explanation of the 1383-1385 crysis of sucession and the political strife that led to the battle, I have a book about the battle written by a portuguese military historian.

Not saying other battles are not important, but I also agree with some previous posters about the importance, regarding the Reconquista, of the battles of Alarcos and Navas de Tolosa. IMHO, these 3 I mentioned are probably the most significant in the Iberian peninsula in the Middle Ages.

The Battle of Manzikert, The Siege of Constantinople (1204) and the Final Battle of Constantinople should DEFINATELY be on DotS.

now this may be a very stupid question, but were the golden horde and the Mongols the same people or different?

1278 - Battle of Marchfeld Morvamező(marschegg) - it was between HRE+Hungary (Mostly light cavalry, but also the king) and Bohemia
1456 - Battle of Nándorfehérvár/Belgrad was between Hungarians and Ottomans, not Serbs.

    These battles would be great!

Here's one that people are overlooking

    Battle of Adrianople 1205

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Adrianople_(1205)
    http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/villehardouin.html (primary source translation)

    Combatants:

(Mostly French and Italian) Crusaders of the Newly formed Latin Empire
    Lead by Emperor Baldwin I

Probably around 10,000 men, maybe fewer

    vs

Bulgarian Empire with a large army of Cuman reinforcements.
    Lead by Tsar Kayolan

(Probably around 20,000 to 30,000 men according to primary source , though it might be an exaggeration they were larger than the Crusader forces to be sure.)

Result : total Bulgarian / Cuman Victory, Emperor Baldwin captured and died in prison a year later. Louis of Blois, Duke of Nicaea and at least 300 Knights perished, along with most of the Crusader host. The Latin Empire's expansion came to a halt, Bulgaria becomes the preeminent power of the region.

As far as decisive victory goes, it's rather amazing that this battle gets so overlooked, as it wasn't THAT common a king / emperor ends up being captured in a large battle. not to meantion the battle basically doomed the Latin Empire right from it's start. as they were never able to do much against the Bulgarian advances after this and just managed to cling on to Constaninople and a few regions in Greece.

This battle was essentially the Latin Empire's Hattin.

1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....
