    Default Post Release Aristeia News

    9th March 2010

I will shortly begin work on the final release of Aristeia. I intend to work only on one more release of Aristeia but encourage fans to make their own content, historical battles and campaigns. If anybody is interested in this then please contact me and I will try to help where possible.

    Features for the final release-

    - New provincial campaign focused on trojan area.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Some people have complained that the iliad has not been recreated accurately enough in the main campaign, or that alliances can fail, or heroes can sail home too soon. All of this is unavoidable in the main campaign (whos purpose was not to recreate the iliad exactly but allow the player to create their own epic). In any event we will create a much more intense campaign in the area around troy. This will be split into two sections, the "Cypria" and the "Iliad".
    - Fix all recorded bugs.
    - Add Astyanax and Neoptolemos.
    - Add Helen.
    - Alter unit balancing slightly regarding heroes.
    - Alter economic balancing slightly.

This sounds awesome. The first thing to come to my mind when I read this was: "I hope ROFL can hold his excitement in for this addition too" . Anyways, I foresee many hours of my time being spent reloading the Aristeia page for news, here we go again .

Well, it will be quite a while before it is released so hopefully people won't get into a frenzy like last time.

Astyanax was an infant/toddler during the war. How is he going to figure in?

Will Helen be a controllable hero?

They will be added to the family trees. We will maybe add helen as paris' wife given the mod start date - I shall discuss with zenith.

Fantastic - the zoomed in Troy provincial campaign idea is an excellent one!

Could we possibly have some more unique hero models/skins for semi-major heroes like Glaukos, Antilochos, Thrasymedes and Telemachos (not necessaryily all of the, they're in the order I'd say is most important, and there may be others too)

Does this mean there will also be a longer broad campaign like ttw, where you start in your respective city states?

No. The current Aristeia campaign is the 'longer broad campaign'. There is a reason why we are not doing a campaign like TTW. At any rate, it should be obvious that we are only going to add what Zhuge mentioned in his post.

They covered a larger area than the current campaign map and didn't really fight any set battles.

The Argonauts went on a journey to Colchis, got the golden fleece, and then fled without fighting a single actual battle (even when the Sparti appeared Jason hid and let them kill each other before he emerged again). They then spent the rest of their journey trying to escape King Aeetes' pursuing fleet, and finally arrived back in Thessaly, still not having fought a proper set battle.

Could you add a dozen or so character portraits for minor heroes, and adopted heroes? Using the default Greek portraits seems to ruin the atmosphere set by the rest of the campaign map. Obviously skins and models arent needed, for all minor heroes, but a couple of extra skins wouldnt go amis.

One minor thing: just before you upload the mod can you change the starting screen resolution to 1024x768? While I have manually changed the screen resolution to something my screen can display, I have to have the mod running in administrator mode to apply the changes to the preferences.txt file.
Although this may disappoint some people, I am indeed alive, I just went inactive for three years.

Will she stay on the Mycenaean family tree as Menalaus' wife or be removed from it?

If we had a 2D artist to work on them they would look much better.
