    MISSING UNIT MOD

    I 've received many reports about factions that cannot recruit some units. For example some factions cannot recruit naval or Mamelukes can't recruit mameluke cavalry!!! I've checked units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions table and I saw that things are slightly different here than Empire. In Empire, factions had some common units and in units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions where included some exclusions or some extra permissions. In NTW seems that only permissions are included detailed for every faction and the units that can have in game. For some reason some faction are lucking of certain units.

    I've make this little tweak-mod so players can solve this problem. The mod pack contains only the vanilla units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions. Players can add the right entries for the extra units their factions want to have. Experienced players in modding can do this easily by themselves. Here are detailed instructions for new players in modding NTW.

    1. Download and extract the attached file in a working folder on your desktop.

    2. Open units.xls and units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions.TSV using a spread sheet like OpenOffice or Excel.

    3. From units.xls you can pick the unit(s) you want to add and the exact faction name and enter them in units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions.TSV. Be careful to choose the right faction name depending the campaign. For example there is faction ottomans but also there is egy_ottomans. In cases like these I suggest to assign the units in both factions.

    4. Enter the entries in units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions.TSV in the right order:

    unit name / faction name / True
    In the following image you can see the entries so Papal States can have naval units:



    5. Save and close units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions.TSV. With NAP_PFM open MissUnit_mod.pack. Go to in my_units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions table end from top choose Import TSV. Point to units_to_exclusive_faction_permissions.TSV you've prepared and save the pack.

    6. Copy the MissUnit_mod.pack in you [NTW] data folder. Also add the user.script file in your C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts. If you already have one there gust copy the content.

    Sounds good. Is it in this way possible to add the Brunswicker Infantery to Prussia? And what is witch the Brunswicker Hussars and the Cisalpine Legion? Swiss said that there is the problem witch the wrong textures? Is this away in this way?

    Proud to be a real Prussian.

    I can't say. If S.H. says something about units he knows what he is talking about. Anyway this is the procedure to add units of another faction. Have in mind also any certain region recruitment limitations.

    Thank you husser. I've never really modd'd anything in either ETW or NTW, so this was a first for me. However following your simple instructions allowed me to incorporate a much broader naval aspect for minor countries in the grand campaign. I was able to add naval units to all minor factions, and rework some of the larger factions like Russia who were quite limited in thier naval deployment.

    Well what happens when you add units like Brunswicker to Prussia is that when you load them up in battle they show up wearing ETW Line Infantry skins.
    Whether it is a cavalry or infantry unit it shows them in Line Infantry clothing.
    It also shows the unit cards as "place holders".
    Total opposite of what happend in ETW where you simply made the unit available to other nation and it showed up looking the same except for faction color.
    NTW apparently did something to make it harder for us.

    Thanks alot Husserl appreciate everything u do for us. its annoying there arent any general faction units anymore . seems im gonna have some modding to do. i do like a challenge

    So is it possible as France to add units from German States,Bavaria etc to make the armies look more historic. Or add Portuguese for Britain ?

    Thats exactly what i asked and it seems to be not possible at this moment.

    Hello MAL and Jihada, you can add these units if you follow the decent guide from husser. They are playable in game. But as I wrote in my first post of AUM-NAP, the textures, icons and the info cards use all a generic texture and don't appear right on the battlefield.

    Hello MAL and Jihada, you can add these units if you follow the decent guide from husser. They are playable in game. But as I wrote in my first post of AUM-NAP, the textures, icons and the info cards use all a generic texture and don't appear right on the battlefield.

    yeah, they all looks like the line inf in ETW,the ugly face
    i am very love the NTW, in italy campaign ,the french revolution infantry, they are nake foot,and in rag,i try to edit in unit_expension table to use those unit in egypt or europe map,but can't,due to the texture problem,

    cant you just do this in unit specific factions? like adding Saxon line to France in db editor, i seem to remember doing this with Empire adding units...

    Did not work for me , added everything properly still no Moscow Musketeers and 17th Jagers.

    Check in units table if they have AOR limits (area of recruitment). It is the column "Region IDRef".

    Same problem. Did everything thrice just to make sure and nothing happens. Loaded a new game too to make sure.
    I seem to recall the game either doesn't like or load .pack files? The other mods I use discuss movie format to work I think. Can you use the NAP_PFM to change to a movie format?

    *edit #2. Opening NER in NAP_PFM shows it is in movie format. When I try to change the Missmod.pack to movie format it doesn't do anything and doesn't save. Hmm.. will keep tinkerin.

    After much biting and gnashing of teeth (and a couple of rum and cokes) I was able to get it working by changing the .pack file to a movie format instead of mod. Also took out the specific script for this since movie file type doesn't need it apparently. The editor gave me a wierd error about the file being in use and not being able to save so I just changed the name and it didn't give an error and as such worked.
    It is pretty satisfing to work with this stuff actually.
