V Formation?
I keep hearing people in this forum people mentioning some kinda V formation.. what is this V formation?

You stagger your line infantry units so they form a V, meaning your flanks engage the enemy before your center. It's one of the oldest tactics in warfare, going as far back as Greece. A modified V formation was used by Hannibal at Cannae. His center was weaker and flanks stronger, so when the Romans engaged, his center was pressed back while the flanks held fast. The result was that Hannibal's army looked like a V or a U, the roman flanks routed and the army was enveloped. An actual V formation was used by Scipio Africanus in Spain against the Carthagenians in the same war a few years later.

The V-Formation is a way of integrating ur artillery into ur line while theyre still reasonably safe from enemy infantry
