I noticed that spearmen in Aristeia use the "fs_spearman" skeleton rather than than the hoplite skeleton. Was this done for historical accuracy or is it not possible to use the hoplite skeleton with this mod's models?

Maybe I did not explain my question properly. What I would like to see is Aristeia's spear warriors using the hoplite animation from SigniferOne's Animation Pack (ie. fs_s1_hoplite). These animations are much more realistic than the vanilla spearmen animations, and it also makes the spearmen far better fighters. Hence, my question: Is it possible to use the fs_s1_hoplite skeleton with Aristeia's spearmen?

The developers did not go for any kind of phalanx units due to the era the mod is set (This was the reason given for TTW, and I assume it is the same case for aristeia.) The mod is set in around 1300 - 1100bc, before phalanx warfare was developed and used largely on the battle field.
Instead battles were made up from single combatants, with no uniformity to style. This was how homeric heroes are believed to have arisen, they were the best brawlers. I'm sure as the mods main focus are the heroes, that they did not want to take away the simplicity of their strength by adding a phalanx unit.
Well, in terms of style the mod is really set ca. 800-550 BC, the archaic period in which Homer and other great epic poets were composing. Of course, the mod is set in a mythological narrative that only exists within the realm of ancient Greek fantasy, not within any particular historical period. As far as the skeletons go, I really don't know anything about the technical issues of this myself.

Those are both good answers. Thanks for the response!
