Let's compare the IFVs employed by the different countries, as these vehicles seems to be the next big focus in land warfare as opposed to tanks, due to their ability to transport a squad of infantry and provide them with very capable support and superior mobility...

My favorite in this field just has to be the CV90 family.

• CV9040: The original model with a 40 mm Bofors autocannon.
• CV9030: Export version with a 30 mm Bushmaster II autocannon. Adopted by Norway, Switzerland and Finland.
• CV9035: Armed with a Bushmaster III 35/50 cannon. Adopted by the Netherlands and Denmark.
• CV90105: 105 mm Rifle tank gun/turret. Designed by Hägglunds (BAE Systems) and GIAT (Nexter).
• CV90120-T: Equipped with tank turret and smoothbore 120 mm gun. (120 mm Gun select as Rheinmetall or IWI.)
• CV9040 AAV (TriAD): Anti-Air Vehicle, fitted with radar and 40 mm autocannon. Can also elevate its cannon higher than CV9040
• CV90: Command Vehicle.
• CV90: Forward Observation Vehicle, more advanced IR sensor fitted.
• CV90: Armored Recovery Vehicle. (BgBv90 Swedish army designation)
• CV9040B: Updated CV90 with fully stabilized gun, although elevation suffers because of this.
• CV9040C: Version for International Operations with additional all-round armour and tropical climate kit.
• CV9056: Prototype version equipped with the Bofors RB56 anti-tank missile. No units ordered

It's going to be interesting to see how they'll do in Afghanistan when they deploy some time next year.

I don't really know anything about IFV's. I know Britain still uses the Warrior and they are busy upgrading them with new turrets, improved sighting systems and armour, as well as new communication systems. As far as I am aware they have served us well (Although they proved vulnerable to IED's in Iraq) and are tried and tested.

However, I can see this debate turning into more nationalistic dick-waving.

Highly irrelevant. I favored the CV90's well before the Army Material Command decided to purchase them, and tbh I'm not really sure why they haven't decided to employ more than 45...

No not really. Wheeled IFV's are good for urban fighting, but put them in more difficult terrain and they'll "fail". At least compared to the tracked IFV's... Having both is good though.

Btw, isn't the Stryker just an American version of the MOWAG Piranha III?

I also love the name of Britains newest one, the Spartan-Odin. The CVRT-Scimitar is also cool. The army put this video up, of the new military hardware we are due to get, some looks cool, some rather (quad bike). Most of it is focused on giving infantry more firepower and protection.
