The new expantion is realy awesome the game feels and looks better. The achievement system is great too. Got tons of Cartel coins because of it lol.
I have to say they did good with this pacth imo.

I really love what they did for the Juggy tank tree, it's actually viable for pvp again.
Though I'm a bit miffed at how they totally screwed up pvp with bolster making pve gear better than using pvp gear pre-55. It's pretty bad when you can remove all your gear and end up with better stats naked in a WZ than if you use your old pvp gear. If you have high-end pve gear, use that when you go into a WZ.
I really love the universal planetary comms though. No more sitting on 37 Corrusant coms that I can't use.
I didn't pre-order the expansion in time for the early release, so I have to wait until the 14th to level up my 50's. No point in wasting time on them now if I'm not going to progress. Still have a few under 50 toons I can work on in the meantime though.
Well, Knight of Heavan, I can understand your point, but I still disagree with making the MMO, and then the novel, in the first. These characters just seemed forced, and the novel's ending was pretty much saying "you won't get the ending unless you pay $15/month for our game". With that said, I have generally agreed with you before, and your defense of the game makes me consider trying it now that it's f2p, but I refuse to spend a dollar on it for any upgrades, expansions, etc., even if I do end up liking it.
Well That was lucasarts decision, i too would like a KOTOR 3, a single player game. It would be much more detailed in the storyteling department, with more depth at least. Yet i think they finaly are doing a nice job with this game, the rest is the nature of MMO, personaly i dont think i would enjoy playing as F2P too many silly restrictions.
Allthough The achievement system brought a fresh new air to the game as well, you can earn cartel coins by completing achievements.
AnywayJust reached lvl 55 with my sentinel. twin trow is amazing lol shes now with allmost 25k HP.
Red been too busy with makeb ( awesome planet btw, épic quests so far, and the cinematics are realy good) and im also doing the Macrobinoculars and seeker droid quests ( great ideia on biowares part i love quests that makes you solve puzzles and all that.
i dont even touched pvp as of yet. But isnt suposed the old pvp gear be worthless now?

Im at lvl 20 as f2p and i gotta say im having fun, the things you cant do as f2p are retarded (gotta wait 1 minute everytime you use the general chat to use it again, quickbar restriction...) but still it is fun for a MMO, back then i used to play WoW (without paying.... yes) with my friends and it was fun for a while, but this game IMO is way better in all aspects. The story isnt interesting to me (at least compared to KOTOR 1 and 2) and i havent been able to roleplay at all but the combat and the grouping is, honestly, actually fun. So bottom line is, try it since it is free. One thing i liked was the galaxy map and the way you travel from planet to planet, that is really well made (quite symilar to KOTOR actually). And the space missions, even being railway like, sure can be fun, sucks that i as f2p can only play one in a week...

It's been mixed reviews. Some say the bolster is bugged, other's say wearing your old pvp gear is still better than pve gear in the 30-54 bracket. I think it has something to do with relics, if you wear full WH/EWH gear and remove relics you end up with better stats. Other's have been using no gear at all (just a weapon and off hand) and get better stats through bolster than wearing all their gear. Either way it sounds rather bugged to me at the moment.
Mind you I'm having a blast on my level 37 Guardian as my stats are bolstered great compared to those War Hero geared players.I think it will probably be fixed in a hot patch coming in a few days. I can't say for sure though as I haven't logged into any of my 50's yet until I get access to expansion, so I'm sticking with my lowbies for now.
Wulfburk, have you tried toggling your walk in your preferences yet? From everything I have read this is supposedly the universal sign that you are interested in role playing. People have stated that's the easiest way to strike up RP as people assume if you're walking you're open to RP.
Yeah i use it quite alot actually. But anyway i think i will apply to join the Grand Jedi Order guild on The Progenitor server, since they seem to be quite heavy rp.Wulfburk, have you tried toggling your walk in your preferences yet? I have tried it, many times, but always quit becouse Real life money is all that matters in it...
Well it's not a 'pay to win' if that's what you're saying but, yes, optimally it does require you to sub for 15 bucks a month to get the most out of the game. It's a subscription based model game. Sure, you can F2P it and with minimal investment to get the core unlocks from the cartel market store to get the most out of your gaming experience without subbing, but there does come a point where unlocking everything with 'real money' becomes more expensive than subbing.
I started playing f2P. It's okay, I guess. It's still early, so it might get better, but it feels like the MMO grind that I've experienced with every other game. Not too into it at this point I'm afraid.
It's beginning to reinforce my statements that a KoTOR3 with the Exile and Revan together would've been much better.
Well i dont think anyone of us denies that! Personally i dont like MMO's, but this one seems to be the best of them. A KoTOR 3 would be epic indeed, but i dont think it will ever happen, though i am waiting with excitment more news about that new Obsidian (maker of KoTOR 2, Fallout New Vegas and Neverwinter Nights 2) Star Wars RPG game (set between Episode 3-4)It's beginning to reinforce my statements that a KoTOR3 with the Exile and Revan together would've been much better.

Yeah but on the other hand be carefull of what you wish, it realy depends how they go about it. da2 and Me3 where to be better and épic.. and they were a fiasco., even Me2 was so so, while it had great content the main story arch was still meh.
Im happier with swtor now, it has alot of content and the game improved quite a bit. About the grind, well being a sub leveling is very fast. and the legacy/ reputation/ achievement stuff ads a new play into it, with alts etc.
That is still happening? im asking because lucasarts are to be shut down by disney and their projects where canceled star wars 1313 that were to be released soon. Another sw shooter too "star wars first assault".Well i dont think anyone of us denies that! Personally i dont like MMO's, but this one seems to be the best of them. A KoTOR 3 would be epic indeed, but i dont think it will ever happen, though i am waiting with excitment more news about that new Obsidian (maker of KoTOR 2, Fallout New Vegas and Neverwinter Nights 2) Star Wars RPG game (set between Episode 3-4)
However 1313 had a gameplay trailer already and everything.
Its possibe some game developer company might buy the licence from disney and release then in the future i dont know, it seems unlikely.
in anycase it might still happening obsidian just needs to bring it to disney instead of lucasarts now.
I hope for that but we will see.
I think they are focusing mostly on the new films, and probably by then is when they will release games acording to the new movies theme and franchise. I say that because disney isnt producing the games is selling the licences to game developers like lucasarts did with EA/bioware. And it might be more apealing to game developers in 2015 when episode VII is due to premier.

I think they're still going ahead with third party developing, though.
BTW, are they retconning most of the EU with the new films. Someone told me pretty much everything after VI is now retconned (Zahn's amazing novels, Legacy of the Force, etc.)
If so, then **** the new movies. I don't want them.
I hear they will not touch EU after Return of the jedi. Meaning they will not retcon, they will simply ignore it and skip ahead.
Probably best choice as that time frame is full of bad... realy bad. Few stuff are realy good imo.
Thats why i somewhat prefer old republic lore.
I have been following the star wars scene closely since the Disney acquisition and can confirm that so far nothing has been specified regarding whether the EU will be wiped out or not.
People assume that at least a portion of it will be chucked to the bin but nothing is for certain.
I am with you. If they wipe out the amazing Zahn or X-Wing novels I would be very upset. My hope is that they leave everything in place at least until the NJO if not the NJO. If they wipe out everything post ROTJ I am done with star wars. I will literally throw out the tens of books and comics that I would have spent so much money for nothing.
Currently I have moved on to other fiction until I know for sure what is happening. No point in reading a book or comic and then finding out it was a waste of time because 'it never happened'.
I have approximate answers and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and many things I don’t know anything about. But I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing.

Oh, that's true. Palpatine's Clone was.......... indescribably terrible.
But the Thrawn novels, the Legacy of the Force series (which tied into the now retconned and unfinished Republic Commando series, due to issues with the ****ING piece of **** Clone Wars TV Show), Yuuzan Vong War, etc were all pretty good.
This was literally the worst game I've ever played.
See you, space cowboy
