Default SOLUTION to stuttering when cannons fire *

OK I had the same problem as a few peeps on this forum - i.e drop in frame rates when cannons fire and explosions go off. The solution is to revert to an OLDER driver. I have an ATI HD 4800 and had recetly installed the latests drivers. I had the problem so i reverted back to an older driver version 8.582 and hey presto the problem has gone away!! Let me know how you get on with this.

Tested all drivers 9.6 and up on windows 7 64 bit (cant go lower than 9.6) and the stuttering is there in all versions, tested battles without cannons and it works without a hitch. so i guess CA will need to patch this OR contact ATI and communicate with them about it..and i know CA aint that fond of that word (communicate that is) so the problem gets remedied.

It's older. The version around when Empire was being tested was 9.2. Might try it.

Sorry version 8.582 is actually 9.2. 9.2 is the one that works. I have tried most of the others and it seems to only be this one that works the best. Give it a try
