NTW updating help PLEASE!!!

hey i just bought napoleon total war about an hour ago, poped it into my computer..installment was about 20 minuttes no problem...then it began to update, and within 20 minutes its about %5..either steam is bieng a Btch or some other problem

Disc or downloading?


Sometimes steam acts like its stuck but its still downloading just not updating properly.

If you wish you can close and restart steam, it will resume where it left off.

Thats odd, whenver i plan on installing/reinstalling ETW, i make sure i delete ETW from my computer.

I pop in the disc and follow that installation procedure to make sure its going off the disc and not dling the files.

I got NTW via steam so i downloaded overnight when i got up it was all ready.

Steam is being a pain either way. It seems the download rules for Empire are not applicable to Napoleon.

yea i do not understand why steam has to force u to download updates inorder to play....i mean i bought their product with hard earned money and THEIR preventing me to play it?thats ridiculouse wish their was a way to play without updating

I know they released a quick patch yesterday, but it shouldnt take to long to download.

If your net connection isnt the fastest or steam is being pounded on by a lot of users might factor in , on why its taking so long.

At this point i recommend patience.

yes it was support for eyfinity and a fix for the chat.

what you could is to set the game to not update automatically, but since NTW is so focused in multiplayer you will not connect to anyone

7hrs!?! heck no, unless you are on a 56k modem.


I recommend restarting steam / computer.

well i did exit steam and restart computer.....my "guess" is that is steam downloading the whole frekin game?and why if i physically saw it install both disks?

i hesitate to do this....but should i delete all local content or reinstall (which is an option in the autoplay menu)?

You could try someething less radical, such as changing the servers that it downloads updates,... thus speeding things up

But he said its been 7hrs, no update takes that long. Whats your download rate.



To answer your previous question...
Delete all local content, make sure its off to the NOT INSTALLED column on steam. Then use the autorun feature on the disc.
