'someone has to lose'
Playing as the Minoans, I conquered Naxos (which lacked a rebel garrison) with the army I pulled from the Trojan coast, but that's it so far. I'm just building up for an assault on Greece while Agamemnon and the rest of the children bicker over Troy. As far as I'm concerned, Paris can have Helen. Greece is my mistress...![]()

i started off by fortifying the island of Crete and then built a force with witch i took a few isolated islands on my way to a secluded and easily defendable beach town on the east coast of Atreus at which point they started battering my army with everything they had

The children and I still bicker over in Troy...

Playing as the Trojans is definitely fun. My strategy thus far has been: Cut the Achaeans in half, that target of this assault are Ajax's troops. The Lycians have been very cooperative with the assault and managed to kill Ajax. Sending another Trojan army into the gap has split the Achaeans in half and has isolated the southern beachhead from the north. A steback occured when Paris' army ran into the remnants of Ajax's forces. Suffice to say, Helen will be bored in Troy for the duration of the war. I got Aeneas from country side to pick up the slack and fight Patroclus, whom he defeated, but alas patroclus ran back to Achilles who has surprisingly isolated himself from the attack (even from his army). The amazons are making their way to hopefully take out Idomeneus. Hector and Helenus are blocking the bridges on the north in a holding maneuver until the southern front is won or when there is an opportunity that will result in minimal casualties. Just in case, I have one generic Trojan stack along with Priam's army as a reserve.
Heroes KIA as of now:
Diomedes
Ajax
Paris

Suffice to say this campaign is very engaging.
Playing as Troy. Just about won the war; killed all the *main* heroes as I know them (Agamemnon, Menelaus, Achilles, Odysseus, Patroclus...). In effect, the West camp has been cleared of major resistance, with only 2 armies left in the middle camp and 2 1/2 left in the South-East camp. Hector, Paris, Priam, and Penthesileia are all alive and well (though a few of the other heroes are dead in their places).
It hasn't been tough, but I am playing on M/M and my strategy involved camping bridges+river fords until Penthesileia arrived with her Amazons. I did lose a few battles when the Greeks attacked with Menelaus and Agamemnon together, but all in all, only 2 land battles have been lost (though they both resulted in destruction of a stack).
One thing that has confused me is the Hero Armor/Hero Traits. I believe you (Zhuge) said somewhere that armor would be stripped from a dead hero by their killer and added as a retinue (or something along those lines). If that is the case, then for some reason, I haven't gotten any. I also don't notice a script starting up when I run my version...
Anyway, here's the situation. The debt is slowly going away. I've managed to shave 3k off my end of turn deficit by taking those camps (though I'm still losing 5k every turn).
One surprising thing happened when I was playing as the Trojans, Odysseus' whole army left after the death of Achilles and Patroclus. I was kind of sad to see him go in such a hurry. Penthesileia's army was a life saver on the eastern front, having all those horse archers really decimates any army without cavalry support.
Well, playing with the House of Atreus got me conquering Troy by myself because the alliance was down in the 8th year of the war. I had 2 full armies and Agammemnon and Menelaus commanding them at Troy and I was 12000+ with the money. But as I was focusing on Troy, Orestes, Nikostratos and a couple of other heroes adopted in Mycenae were assasinated by Tyndaeus and they eventually took Mycenae, Sparte and Hiperesia... Not without a fight, but I started late in building an army in Peloponnesus and that was the end of me. I didn't wanted to extend in a very long campaign by bringing back Menelaus and Agammemnon from Troy and getting back what is mine... Because after I lost those cities my 12000+ money were gone... and I still had to beat back the Trojan allies and my former ones....
^My situation is the exact opposite. I've just about secured all of mainland Greece south of Thebes. Only Troezen remains.

I just took Troy after a disastrous attack by Agamemnon. However the Greek alliance has fallen apart without a leader and Zeus only knows how long it will be before they are all at my gates...

A bit after the Trojan War ended - a few turns into the "middle" campaign".
Bellophoron declared war on the Maiones after I took Pergamon, and I obviously sided with Bellophoron.
Thebes is at war with Mycene and the House of Telamon. They are holding their own for now, but Mycene has a few stacks around the Isthmus (Thebes is guarded by a full stack, though).
The House of Minos was killed during the War; apparently all their Family members were on my shores.
