One thing i am having a problem with is removing the background properly. I remove the background and in photoshop it looks clear but then when i view my post or whatever its obvious some background has not been removed properly.

Whats the best way to check this or are my settings wrong?

Some of questions so far from lesson 2,

First the lesson says to duplicate the layer and make one invisible. Once i have put my render into position how do i make one of my layers invisible?

Once i have resized my picture render or background to the size i want. How do i apply the changes all i can find so far is to save it and then it asks if i want to apply the changes.

Once i have the render and background layers how i want them. How do i put my render layer on top of the background and blend them.

He means to turn the layer off. using the eyball look in the layer sidebar.. and click the eyball off.

If you used transform tool then there should be a checkmark on the taskbar up top. once done click the checkmark (ok button)

click the layer in the layer menu and drag it to the top.

    hey,
I love it that you put lesson 3a in. It is great to learn that, but there is still a missing link between the end result the student must have and the fire strokes you see in real pictures, like you posted too in your lesson as an example. I would like to learn that part too. (or at least tell us shortly)

    Some questions about lesson 2

Put the background layer above the render, so you can concentrate on it.
How do i do that, do all the layers for both pictures need to be linked if so how do i do it?

Now put one of your render-layers on top of it.
    How do i do that?

Sorry if the answers are obvious i have not used layers before in photoshop so they are not to me.

You've to enable (display) the layer window, there you can change their order by drag&drop.

Yeah, I allready thought that was written wrong

Ok, you learn us to make these strokes in lesson 3a which is great. But as you can see in the picture with the kid playing with lightning, there is still a big gap of information between the result we must make and what the picture with the kid has. I really want to learn that last part too, so I can make it myself. AFter this lesson I can only make a nice stroke, but nothing more. I want to make things like in that picture with the kid.

DAmn, very hard to explain. Hope you understood it now.

Almost finished lesson 2 (if its not to late) i have a couple of problems,

When i apply the text at the suggested sizes it is huge and will not fit on the canvas no idea why.

The whole canvas is rather dark how do i lighten it?
