Please help, Problems playing on great gaming pc!?

Hello, I am having great difficulty playing Napolean Total War on my new gaming pc. I will list what i have as far as my pc goes, then i will list what is going wrong in game.

-Windows 7 64 Bit
-NVIDIA GTS 260 SLI (2 cards)
-3.7ghz cpu speed
-8 gigs of ram running at 800mhz
-10,000 rpm HDD

-Screen rez is set at 1680 1050
-Both graphics cards are overclocked

So I have tryed putting graphics on Very high and high witch should be no problem at all as you can see, I play Crysis on high better than your average gaming pc. When i start game its great but once i get into gameplay its horrible, lag everywhere i cant even move its so slow and glitchy that its unbarable to play. Its making me very sad.

What am i doing wrong, is it because of windows 7?

Its probably an SLI issue? There are some other threads on this topic, the gist being N:TW isn't SLI compatable (without manual tweaking), so you might be actually running all of that high and very high gfx with only one card.

I have a new computer and last week I had this problem last week with ETW. I was playing multiplayer and all of a sudden I had so much lag it was unbearable. I defragged my comp, did a virus scan, cleaned my registry, and defragged the game cache files. Long story short-somehow my computer had put itself into a battery saving mode (called business quiet). I changed the setting back to high performance and it solved the problem. I think the battery saving mode makes the comp run on only one core. Hope this helps but I'm sure u know this already.

disabling sli also work very well, if it doesn't work pm Chaobciroc, since he understands how to tweak things in sli, you can search him at the basement forum

My specs are fine, They easily handle ultra settings. CA has truly turned negligent programming into an art.

try leaving your video cards at stock clocks. i used to have my GTX 285 heavily overclocked and i would get studdering in empire, one day just for the hell of it i down-clocked to stock numbers and ive had zero problems. i run napoleon perfectly with the settings at the highest. if the game is glitching out on you, its more than likely your videocards. if they are new then its also a possibility that one might be defective, also make sure you have a power supply bigger than the required to give them adequate juice.

Did you read Freelancer's post and try it?

Calling someone ignorant and showing your temper is not going to solve anything.

K, i am Zind's friend and we might have figured out how to fix the problem he was having, it seems his prefrences files in the appdata script werent being created right so i gave him mine with ultra settings and it started up right. dont know if it works in game but i will post my pref. file and where to put it *note you will have to edit the file so you get the right Resolution. people can test to see if it fixes it but let me upload to megaupload and i will edit this post with the link.

EDIT: here it is http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D8E2EZXH Put in C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon\scripts *Note* copy your Pre-existing one just in case it dosent work.

EDIT 2: It seems his Anitliasing was causing the problem to not loading. so if anyone else has this problem load my file and go into it and edit the file line gfx_aa 1 and change it to gfx_aa 0. or just edit yours. it fixed his problem for loading. i dont know if it will fix yours but its worth a try.
