You should mate, it is the most efficiant way to pass information to everyone without having to go thread by thread. If you don't check it you'll lose a lot of information, and lose good part of the action for misinformation :\

I disbanded the mercenaries you hired, since I figured you wouldn't want to pay the 2k or so upkeep for them.

you always have your free troops (e.g. 50 per shire etc.) so you personally should have at least 100 men, you should be able to see the losses in the "Rescue the King Thread".
