Default [RS 1.6a] The Potato Guy's Massilia Sub-Mod

    Massilia Submod for RS 1.6a

Hi everyone, I've been practising my RTW modding skills lately, and I thought I would upload a small faction swap sub-mod for RS to get other people's views on it. So this is my sub-mod, I've swapped the Bosporans to make the Kingdom of Massilia/Massalia a playable faction, the factions unit roster is quite limited as I don't have a single idea how to model units.
Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Installation instructions are in the README.txt.

To install the unit file, the .dds at the end may need to be deleted, but i don't really know. If anyone knows could they give me a heads up so i can make it clear?

This will be called BETA V0.3 for now, as there's still some more changes needed.

I just changed them because i got bored, the changed colours aren't in the download though. And by 'find out the info you need' you mean about modelling/skinning units right?

Go to mod workshop and look through unit editing should be some tutorial there if you take a look, and yes you will need to model and skin units if your not going to use units from other factions if then you only need to do some text editing. You got any ideas for Massilias unit roster yet?

Pretty much, So far i've got The Bosporan Units,(minus the falxmen, scythian cav and bastarnae) and was planning on adding some Higher tier greek units like armoured hoplites, agema hypaspistoon(?) and maybe something like Gallic swordsmen and gallic cavalry of some kind. I already have City hoplites because i've just renamed and re-placed the Bosporan ones.
By the way, does anyone know of a sort of symbol the Massilians used to represent themselves?

You will need to reskin them, take a look at this thread http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=195308

As for symbols I think they used a lion

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Edit: You will need to edit edb if you want other faction units to be recruitable in campaign.

    Thanks

EDIT: So i made a new skin, what does everybody think? i think it may look better with the white and black on the shield the other way around, but not sure.

Sorry for the huge image size, much smaller and it would be difficult to see.

I think you should keep the original colors and try to reskin the armour and maybe remodel the helmet aswell. Massilia were a greek colony so try and keep it greek and don't wander of to much on the barbarian unit roster.

Different helmets, I think. They look to Athenian. Look if you can find a Massilian helmet on the internet and copy that. ~

And maybe later the Unit card..

I would try to, but modelling seems a bit to difficult to me just now, and i think the programs you need for it are REALLY expensive, so i might just use a different model already in game(the current one actuallly is the Athenian one)

The corinthian helmet is cool, and maybe you could like copy and paste the head from a colour wise matching hoplite: for example the Pergamic or the Spartan.

i can't just copy small parts over i think, it might mean i'll just have to change the mdoel it uses to a hoplite more like the ones you mentioned, but im not sure
    I'll have to check.

They look great compared to the original bosporan hoplite, btw if you haven't seen this thread check it out http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=170628
Preview of Hellenistic hoplites from RS2 and Massilia's hoplites are there, seems like both Bosporan and Massilia used the same lion shield for their Hoplites.

I read somewhere that Massilian hoplites used celtic equipment for their hoplites so they were of better use once their formation broke, infact they used a longsword instead of a xiphos or kopis.
