    I tried to add a province, but it doesn't work (ctd when loading a campaign)

    I edited all the files you said, Seleukos, to create Phocaea (not far from Pergamum) and I don't know what my mistake is...

    here's what I've done:

    First, I deleted the 2 files you mentioned

    Then, in the world/maps/base descr_regions.txt, I added:

    Phocaea
    legion: Phocaeae
    Phocaea
    greek_cities
    Phocians
    128 0 0
    fertile, lead, silver, iron, olive_oil, slaves, hellenic
    5
    9
    christianity 0 pagan 100 zoroastrian 0

    I edited the map tga file correctly and the RGB values are also correct.

    Then, I went to descr_strat and added in for Greek_cities:

    settlement
    {
    level city
    region Phocaea
    year_founded 0
    population 4000
    plan_set default_set
    faction_creator macedon
    building
    {
    type core_building governors_palace
    }
    building
    {
    type hinterland_culture_west west_natives_1
    }
    building
    {
    type defenses stone_wall
    }
    building
    {
    type academic academy
    }
    building
    {
    type hinterland_farms farms
    }
    building
    {
    type barracks_greek barracks_two_greek
    }
    building
    {
    type hinterland_roads roads
    }
    building
    {
    type port_buildings port
    }
    building
    {
    type market trader
    }
    }

    In the descr_merc file, I added Phocaea to the list of the Aegean group:

    pool Aegean
    regions Rhodos Crete Caria Mysia Lydia Lesbos Phocaea
    unit merc peltast, exp 2 cost 650 replenish 0.06 - 0.125 max 2 initial 1
    unit merc rhodian slingers, exp 2 cost 850 replenish 0.05 - 0.12 max 1 initial 1
    unit merc cretan archers, exp 2 cost 1200 replenish 0.05 - 0.12 max 1 initial 1
    unit merc greek hoplites, exp 2 cost 1250 replenish 0.1 - 0.15 max 2 initial 1

    And at the last, I added the region name (which is also the city name) to descr_regions..blabla_lookup.txt in the imperial campaign folder

    and also in the text folder, in the other file.

    ..

    I did everything like I was supposed to, right? I'm puzzled why it doesn't work...

    thx for the help

    Ian

    PS: I play with the XGM mod

    not sure you can do that, haven't 100% confirmed but doubt it.

    If I don't want a different region name in the game I normally use:
    {Phocaea_R} Phocaea
    {Phocaea} Phocaea
    sort of thing in the regions_and_settlement_names_campaign_name.txt file in the data/text folder and use Phocaea_R for the region name. I noticed you didn't mention that file at all, did you actually remember to add entry in there?

    If you are making alterations to a mod, you should also check it doesn't already have 200 regions.

    Please, make sure you have -show_err on your shortcut, and say what error message if any you are getting.

    Tried what you said, but it didn't work

    And I have -show_err on, but it says nothing

    only other question I can ask to help pin down problem is when exactly does it crash? After you select faction do you see loading bar? How far does loading bar get?

    If you want put copies of all your map files in campaign folder & base folder (if you have any modded ones in there) and the regions__.txt file in data/text in a folder and zip it then upload it to something like http://www.megaupload.com/
    and post link here. I'll try and have a look but haven't got XGM so may not be most use - someone else might be able to look as well though.

    here's all the files I edited (sorry, didn't upload the entire folder, but these files are all that matter, right?)

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XREB57GA

    Ian

    PS: the game crashes right after I press the golden arrow to start the campaign, I don't even see the loading screen...

    Ah, finally remembered about the XGM map sorry - should have remembered this before
    (especially as I was in conversation ):
    http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=81206
    as DimeBagHo said limit appears to actually be:
    total of (different coloured) sea areas + land regions = 200 regions

    to fix the problems he was talking about in the other thread, XGM map (version you're using) now has three different coloured sea areas on the map_regions.tga
    - so it was already at max number of regions before you tried adding yours. You'll either have to change the sea areas so only two are used or remove another region. That will be your main problem.

    Also worrying is in descr_regions.txt you've got
    Phocaea_R
    as the region name, whereas its Phocaea_R elsewhere - also not sure if it will like the special character there either!

    Oh, thx for telling me, that solved it!

    Or so I thought...

    Now it says this:

    "Script Error in xgm/data/world/maps/base/descr_regions.txt at line 1982, column 1: Couldn't find region name 'PhocaeaR' in stringtable"
    (I changed the _R to R)

    What the hell is wrong this time? X(

    EDIT: I changed the region name to 'test', and I got the loading screen!

    But it still CTDs just before showing the campaign map (the loading bar is full, then it CTDs, really frustrating)

    In your descr-regions.txt you have:
    Phocaea
    legion: Phocaeae
    Phocaea
    greek_cities
    Phocians
    128 0 0....
    did you actually set up 'Phocians' in descr_rebel_factions.... etc. or check that they are there - I can't see them in rest of DR file - you can't just invent name for that it has to be a real rebel type.

    Also have you attempted to add an army for the city? - I'm not suggesting you should! But if you did and got leader name wrong that is another cause of a message-less CTD.....

    Yep
    see also this page in the Wiki: http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/Map_ground_types.tga

    edit: can i really create only 200 regions??
    Yep, and that includes the 'region colours' used for your seas in map_regions.tga which I was explaining in an earlier post.

    ...and welcome to the forums

    Hi everybody,

    I tried to add a new province in the Roma surrectum 1.5 mod, but it didn't worked. Is this possible that there is some complication because I want to add a new province in a mod?

    Thanks

    If you are making alterations to a mod, you should also check it doesn't already have 200 regions.
    perhaps?

    also note that each different sea colour on map_regions.tga counts as a region too....

    Which RS does, as we use all regions for 1.5c.

    HI , I am trying to add a new province for my first time, I am using paint from windows and my problem is that the "x,y" from paint are different than the ones on the game. In the game the Jedda village is located at "x,y" 268,13 and in paint the "x,y" for the jedda village are "x,y" 268,175 It looks like "y" from paint is backwards. can you guys help me solve this problem. thx in advance

    How can you edit .tga files in paint ? Anyway , paint measures from the upper left corner (i think) , while the game measures from the bottom left corner .. You can try to flip your image , or watch the right coörds with the console panel
