Some traits drive me mad!!

I know the traits system is satisfying but I just wonder, when a general catch some disease or ... become dangerously mad like me, can he recover? Also, when a general feel unappreciated or disrespected, what can I do for them?

As far as I remember:

Disease: Yes your general will recover after time (pref in a city)
Madness: No you are in trouble with this as they get worse and don't recover and may pass it down to kids
Feel unappreciated: Yes, send him to fight lots
Disrespected: Hmm not sure, send him to fight anyway!

Sometimes traits can be annoying, maybe try to think of them as the personality and nobody will be perfect!
