Man this is beyond simple expression. It just totally #censored# awesome. Great work guys i can't wait to play this mod.
Just from the tone of the preview, i got a feeling that those cataphracts will simply be sucky eye candies . Kinda sadden me cos those guys look so awesome and the seleucid ones did manage to bash a line of roman infantry to bits in magnesia. What really force them to flee in the battle was the Pergamum cavalry descending from the flank and that pretty much 80% of the seleucid army was routed, give them atleast a little bit more credits
Very nice, bravo!!
They won't be the best cavalry in the game, but still, they'll acquit themselves well on the battlefield. they are auxilia, after all. Auxilia were capable of winning battles by themselves (such as at Mons Graupius in 84 AD - the Tungrian and Batavian auxiliaries cut the Caledonians to pieces by themselves - the legionnaires didn't even have to engage), or beating up legions (such as during the Batavian revolt - Batavian, Germanic, Gallic and Belgic auxiliaries managed to duff up the Roman legions on the Rhine and nick a fairly sizeable chunk of the Rhine Fleet, or at least confine it to its bases.

I understand why the game calls roma surrectum!

I hope that the mod is not too unbalanced in favor of the Romans!
Nope. We are using modfoldering versions of RS 2 for each faction so it will be harder for the player but all the factions will be overly balanced.

What Apple is saying is that, in the cases where a faction has it's own modfoldered campaign, the balance is tipped against the player....economically, and in the case of the Romans, even the unit stats favor other factions.

Which unit or units happen to be the strongest when you play as the romans and which ones when you play with another faction? I know it's not an easy question to answer since you can't have tested every single unit with eachother in flat land, but an estimation could be possible.

Great work on the auxilia and all. Just one question. On the Cohors Flavia Hispaniorum and the Cohort under it the 'hamata' the soldiers are wearing is brown. I am just wondering why that is ?
Great preview, I learned quite a few things from it. I had no clue that Trajan's column was just a small part of a massive building. I thought it was a commemorative piece like a triumphal arch.
Of course, now I am even more bitter at the residents of Rome since the fall of the Empire who looted and destroyed such a majestic city...it is quite ironic that today Rome is much less impressive than it was thousands of years ago. Even the decaying ruins of buildings such as the Pantheon and Coliseum are far greater than anything the Italians have built in the city since.
Bear in mind that Italy has only been unified for about 150 years or so - before then, as far back as 410 when the Visigoths sacked Rome, Italy was the scene of constant strife between various kingdoms, city-states and the Papal states. It's no wonder that Rome ended up being cannibalised.

very nice auxiliary troops!
Trajan's forum is still there with a museum and so forth. They've cleaned it up quite a bit but still loads of work to do.
The thing that really gets my goat is the vandalism by various Popes; virtually all remaining Imperial monuments have huge ruddy plaque to some bloody pontiff on them
