I've been brooding about the state of TWC medals for a while now. I'm thinking of making another proposal to the Curia, but I want some sample badges that look good so I can give screenshots. To keep it simple, I'll stick to only staff medals first.
The system I'm thinking of is conceptually simple: you get one badge for every three months you serve in staff. This means that some people might have 15 or 20 badges, so they can't be too big. They have to fit in 175 pixels of width, and we don't want them too tall. So possible widths might be:
- 43 pixels or narrower, so we get four (one year) per row. Should be maybe 20 pixels tall or shorter.
- 29 pixels or narrower, so we get six (1.5 years) per row. Should be maybe 25 pixels tall or shorter.
- 21 pixels or narrower, so we get eight (two years) per row. Should be maybe 35 pixels tall or shorter.
I'd likefoureight badges to start with:
- Moderation medal. Should probably include a mace somewhere.
- Content medal. Should probably include a quill somewhere.
- Technical medal. Should probably include a screwdriver somewhere (or a gear, or wrench, or something like that).
- Hex medal. Should probably include something hexagonal, and maybe a scepter or something like that.
- Moderation + content
- Moderation + technical
- Content + technical
- Moderation + content + technical
Remember that you'd see lots of them lined up in a row, so they should probably look the part: they should preferably form a seamless whole, that doesn't look too terribly repetitive, if you put several next to each other.
Thanks to anyone who wants to help out – I'm interested to see what you come up with!
