    Ichon,
This is really great work and builds on what Mega Tortas is trying to do, the section about the Merchants, as never occurred to me before, but as Spock would say' Its logical Captain'. Cripes, how long have I been sending merchants to their doom, what a waste of money, going to do this in future.

    Here's the trigger for badtaxman:
    Trigger governing19
    WhenToTest GovernorBuildingCompleted

    Condition GovernorLoyaltyLevel > loyalty_disillusioned
    and GovernorTaxLevel < tax_high
    and not SettlementType castle

    Affects BadTaxman 1 Chance 2

    and goodtaxman: Trigger governing18
    WhenToTest GovernorBuildingCompleted

    Condition GovernorLoyaltyLevel = loyalty_disillusioned
    and GovernorTaxLevel > tax_high

    Affects GoodTaxman 1 Chance 45

loyalty_disillusioned means the settlement happiness level, and disillusioned is a blue face
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    info on brothels:

    Trigger building_brothels
    WhenToTest GovernorBuildingCompleted

    Condition SettlementBuildingFinished >= brothel

    Affects Drink 1 Chance 5
    Affects Gambling 1 Chance 5
    Affects Girls 1 Chance 5

so if you move your general out the turn before it's completed, he wont get those.

    Condition EndedInSettlement
    and RemainingMPPercentage = 100
    and SettlementBuildingExists >= coaching_house
and not Trait Upright > 0
and not Trait Prim > 0

    Affects Aesthetic 1 Chance 3
    Affects Drink 1 Chance 3
    Affects ExpensiveTastes 1 Chance 3
    Affects Gambling 1 Chance 2
    Affects Girls 1 Chance 2

By looking at this, you can see you also get bad traits if you end a turn in a settlement with 100% movement points and a coaching house or higher exists. So move that general out then back in every turn if you want these buildings in an important city, and he wont get them (or move a general with traits prim or upright into the city and he will be safe)

just go to export_descr_character_traits and search for "Governing - Bad Things" (no quotes) for all the things you need to watch for

Yes this is a good educational thread... I never knew that about moving generals out of city but I think I do that often anyway just exchanging ancillaries to save on building and recruitment costs although with 6.2 beta RR/RC having to keep generals in place to recruit makes moving them in and out of town less of an option if you have a long cycle recruit waiting to develop though most of those are in castles not towns.

The info about changing tax rates when building finishes was helpful as well. I knew that cycling the taxes between low and very high often gave my general better tax traits but now I know exactly why and can do it correctly.

Personally I would whole heartedly embrace the complexity and detail of things like the Real Combat / Real Recruitment Compilation but as it stands I already micro-manage the christmas out of my campaign maps as it is. Include the fact that I have game A-DD and struggle to keep any campaign past 100 turns...

The immersed detail of those kind of mods would just completely blow my mind...

Ouch!!! sorry.. I see my edit got clipped... when a govenor sits in a city on low taxes he will gain a "fair in rule" chiv point. Once you see this raise taxes to at least "Normal for about 5 turns so the govenor does'nt gain bad tax traits. after bout five turns lower the taxes agin to increase the growth percentage and get your govenor another chiv point...

My oopologises for that, I'll try and work some more on the edits tonight. Thank you so much for pointing it out...

hehe. I know all about busy, I've been modifying SavageAI faction standings to suit my soon-to-start Grand Unit Addon campaign, and character traits as well. I've come to the conclusion that since I know how to avoid negative traits caused by not moving my generals, I'll just remove the trigger altogether and save some micro-management.

I'm thinking about it aswell. Perhaps the Teutonic Knights. Or Portugal, or KOJ or something.
    Also: Bold is spelling Nazi.

No, bold are the typos I made because I type to fast
BTW: There already is an excellent guide for the Teutons, I'll see if I can find it again.

Be careful of how you act when using your faction leader. As with culture today, the actions of the faction leader can and will effect everyone else's opinion twords you. Dread will lower your reputation with other factions (And the Pope, if you're Catholic, which is a huge issue.) Thusly, you should try to keep your king fairly chivalrous. A good way to do this is keep taxes on low until he gains a chivalry point, then moving them to high for about 1-2 turns, then putting them on low again for another chivalry point. You can also release enemy troops you've caught in a battle. If you need a dreadful general, stay away from the king and his heirs, and the regent, but instead, have a different line of the family tree do all of your dirty work.

Faction Leader chivalry has nothing to do with reputation. It will, however, cause your chivalrous generals to become disloyal---if your FL has 3 dread or higher. Your rep will go down if you execute prisoners or exterminate settlements.

Chivalry points will be gained when your general has been in a region for more than 3 turns and taxes are on low, and population is green level happiness. You get a 25% chance every turn after that to get another point while taxes are low, so no need to set them to high except when a building is going to be completed to avoid bad tax traits.

See descr_faction_standing.txt for things that trigger reputation

That's what I meant - the method to gaining dread points will decrease your rep. I'll edit it later.
