    Default Ratings,total confusion.

Today, nearly a year after the Empire realize,I search for the game ratings in three sites, IGN, Startegyinformer and Gamespot . The official score are almost the same, but the users score are a little different. But even 6.9 isn't so bad. Some people rate 0/10 others 10/10 , extreme positions, some love, some hate.

In my opinion even with ninja ropes, bad AI and CAI,childish appearance etc the main problem is not the game ,the game is playable ,we don't spent hours with this game as with the old TW, but the game is not bad, just mediocre.

The main problem is,even here, the point-views are extreme, we can not trust anyone, and,as the other one said,to buy, or not to buy: that is the question. Who do I trust?

Or you know you could just read the darn reviews and see what they say instead of just looking at the numbers.

Gamespot noted there were glitches and AI problems.

What I tend to do is read all sources and make my own decision based on trends discussed. For example, if I read 20 different user reviews which all say the that sieges suck, I'll take that into heavy consideration.

Be cautious of professional reviews however as the advertising dollar reigns supreme. a good rule of thumb is not to trust any review that has an advertising banner for that game on the same page.

The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.

Scour the reviews (both professional and user-submitted) for positive and negative traits of the game and determine what effects these could have on you and your gaming experience.

I stopped caring what reviewers said about anything forever when Mirror's Edge - an awesome, fresh, unique game - got heavily dumped on just for forcing you to use guns for about 20 seconds.

After Empire, I don't think I'll ever trust a professional review again.

    word. my method too.

You also need to take into account what the reviewers are reviewing. In ETW's case, reviewers only got to play RtI. That hid all kinds of problems. If the reviewer gets to play the entire game, then you can put more faith in what they say.

Numbers are not to be relied on, it is the words that have a meaning.

@Lockhard; You told him to trust "no one" including yourself, so don't expect him to trust your advice to reformat his harddrive.

    Tricky situation.

Find a video review and watch that instead of the written ones.

Written ones don't differ much from what's on the back of the box, and often hopelessly repeat themselves before they get to the point.
