I'll try to think of one. My memory isn't so good with this now.
What were the names of the three trolls whom Gandalf turned to stone?
Yeah, I know, it's easy.
I got that a nanosecond before you as you can see in the post previous to yours... :laughing:Originally Posted by Lusted

Isn't this going to be a toss up between Smaug (if that can be considered during the war), the Balrog of Moria, Galadriel, Gandalf, and Sauron? (I didn't want anyone to feel left out, so I answered this instead)Originally Posted by Garbarsardar
It's not the elves at least, and you can't be sure of Gandalf, as he was (probably) sent to Middle-earth for a special purpose . I think it's Sauron, since he's a maya. Balrog of Moria was created by Melkor (I think), but I don't think that Smaug was, wasn't he a son/daughter of another dragon?
Well, Saruman, Gandalf, the Balrog and Sauron were ALL Maia.

Bert, Tom and William. What were the names of the three trolls whom Gandalf turned to stone?
That's true, though he did trick them into forgetting about the sun.Is it a trick question? Gandalf turned no trolls to stone.
Tom Bombadil. I know Gandalf says in LotR that Fangorn is the oldest living thing on Middle-earth, but Tom Bombadil himself says that he is "Eldest", and that he was there "before the rivers and the trees".Now, who is the oldest living creature in middle earth during the time of the War of the Rings? And why?
Next question:
What were the names of the twin sons of Folcwine who died in the Battle of the Crossings of Poros?

Bon: In the Beginning there was Eru Ilúvatar, the One, and he made the Ainur, the Holy Ones. Together they made Arda, and those of the Ainur who desired it entered into the World; these Ainur are divided into Valar (the greatest among the Ainur) and Maiar.
Melkor (Morgoth) was a Vala, and his servant Sauron was a Maia. So were the Balrogs and the Istari (the Wizards). If you wish to know more you should read the Silmarillion.

I'd suggest the library, then. Or you could get the paperback from any (online) bookstore for around £5.

The Roman legionary must have been one of the most terrifying sights. By far more horrific than the savage barbarian. For if the barbarian simply knew no better, then the Roman legionary was a ice cold, calculating and utterly ruthless killing machine.
Gandalf was not 350 years old. Even though he only appeared in middle-earth for a short time before the war of the ring (relatively), as a maia he has existed since beofre the world was created.

Well that doesn't mean he is. Gandalf is a maia, and as such has been around since before the first age. As has sauron, as he is also a maia.
