Wow, I thought i knew all the obscure things of Lord of the Rings. Burned dwarf...cremated? Maybe one of the two dwarves who fought the cold drake in Ered Mithran? No C. Drakes couldn't breathe fire. I'm going to say Durin III who died against the Balrog in Moria (wild arse guess really)

Name all of the three 'ancient ents'.

    Hint:Treebeard is one.

A 'burned Dwarf' was one of the one of the dead at the Battle of Azanulbizar (Dimrill Dale, Nanduhirion). Because there were so many dead, the Dwarves could not bury them in the way they were accustomed to (by making tombs of stone); rather, they had to cremate them. A Dwarf would say with pride of one of his forefathers that he was a 'burned Dwarf'.

The three ancient Ents were: Finglas, Fladrif and Fangorn.

    Next question:

What started the War of the Dwarves and Orcs, and which was the last battle in that war?

Azog of Moria started the War by killing Thror, the last battle of that War was the Battle of Azanulbizar (2799 TA).

In what way Thorin II earned his nickname "Oakenshield"??

  8. #188

He earned it by hewing a oak branch and using it as a shield in the Battle of Azabulbizar.

(easyness) But who were the 4 Greatest Dragons, (named), and who killed each of them.

bah guess it didnt register my post so sorry if I double post. Turning point was when Numenorean fleet landed on middle earth and pushed sauron back out of Eriador. In fact, more then pushed, they destroyed his army and all his forces except himself a few bodyguards.

My Question: What are the names of the swords of Turin (Orginal name, not gurthrang), Thingol, and Eol?
